What have you done to your 8V today?

Finally got the chance seal my wheels today.

I'm going to redo mine as have had one refurbished so won't have any protection on, may as well do them all while I'm at it! What size bottle did you get and did you do back and front of the wheels?

Nice job, would be good to hear how much easier cleaning is post sealing.

Lovely to clean when coated.

15ml bottle, it’s more than enough to do all 4 wheels including the inside and I applied it to my brake Caliper as well and still have just under half a bottle left.

That's interesting to know as GTechniq's website says 'If you are coating outside faces only, 15ml will be sufficient for rims up to 18". For all other instances we recommend the larger 30ml.' may just go for the 15ml based on what you've said :icon thumright:

Having done this myself to the 18” alloys on our S1, I tend to agree with the Gtechniq recommendation that you need a 30ml bottle. I also done the calipers and exhaust tips with the same bottle though.

Touching the kerb is proving to be expensive :tearsofjoy:

I would say I used up about 70% of the bottle, but my friend did give me what left of his 30ml which was enough left to do one wheel.

Doing the inside was easier because my rims are dark colour therefore can see it easier where I applying it. One word of advice where latex gloves when applying or it will get all over your hands.

Depending on how you apply it, If you are just doing the outside of 4 rims and brake caliper I would say 15ml is more than enough.

“Little goes a long way!”

I shall do the fronts and backs again so maybe go with the 30ml, wheels still look like new after 15 months :grinning:

How much did you pay for this unit if you dont mind me asking? Was it self installed or installed by audi?

@Schizophonic
I got it from here

It was a self install, time consuming as I was also fitting my reverse camera too, but same panels removed etc so overall not too bad. I allowed a day!

It basically wires into a live fuse and a switched fuse (same as the other makes). No other connections to car. When approaching a couple dealers to get fitting instructions for the A3 I was given the spiel about voiding my warranty etc. But I can't see how!

I got a lot of info from the Q3 forum, there's an instruction guide on there. It works by way of an app on my iPhone.

Rang up to book oil and filter change as it's a year old, reckon I don't need it do I g until this time 2019? I mean it's only done just over 4k m8les and no popup on the dash ask g for it but would it not be best getting it done?

On that mileage I thought an annual service was required. Then there are the 18k service intervals for higher mileage drivers like myself. Wonder if you car has been set to long term servicing.

That’ll be long term, my understanding is that the interval of 18k can reduce depending on how the car is driven.

I’m not 100% but I thought low mileage users required an annual service. May be check with another dealer.

My message popped up around 10 or 11000 miles after around 13 months from memory

Bit of mapping....

It needed a lot of trimming and straightening that you would have thought it would have come ready smoothed. It's almost like they mould and then say, let the customer fix out bad workmanship .

A bit disheartening to reading this, I just ordered a similar one but for my s line, After having it a month or so, would you recommend it or shall I stay away?

Also any tips on how to fit it I have no clue where to start?

Thanks.

If I had the cash I'd have gone to Xenons. They supply an OE fitment. Rieger is really poor quality of finish around the exhausts and lower edges. The lower edges really can't be seen when fitted, just the exhaust cut outs. Very poorly finished, or not in my case. If you have to fit Rieger getting the diffuser of needs the bumper off. Doing it in place I believe would be a complete nightmare. The rear bumper comes off in 20 mins. Undo the lower edge first, the it's just a case of releasing the tabs that hold the diffuser in place. Don't bother trying to take the chrome trim or black trim off first dependent on if you have a black edition. It's got hidden screws that can't be accessed till the diffusers off. I started in the middle and worked outwards. Took 30 mins. If you need any more info mate, just let me know.

Ah k cool. Yea I had mine detailed with CSL too 2 years ago, it’s still working well but i keep it topped up with C2 and I had a mini detail top up after one too. Hopefully gonna have myself my own ara number very soon and gonna treat it to maybe one of the longer lasting gtechniq treatments depending on cost....

I'll sell you the crystal Serum Light EXO v3 C2v3 500 mls pack of cloths at a very reasonable price . ... Best to try and get them bird jobby etchings out long before you actually correct anything towards the ceramic

What rims you got ?? I fancy some 19 inch rs6 replicas from skidz up in Falkirk but I've heard the ride can get too harsh going from 18-19 inch.

They are by a company called OEMS....going from 18 to 19 doesnt necessarily ruin the ride...its down to the tire wall...have rubber band tires, and the ride will suffer, have decent sized tires and the ride will be alot better for any given rim size.

We run 215/35/19 on the S3 at the moment as they were the biggest we could run on the R32...tires are good so we kept them until they wear out...whether I would change the size or not when they come round to needing replacing, im not too sure yet
