I used to own and run a 2011 S3 DSG. On changing gear as you all know it would 'fart' on the upchange which I thought sounded pretty cool.

As I've changed cars and gone to a 2014 Quattro 184 DSG Diesel, is there anyway that I can get back my 'fart' on the upchange. I know it means nothing in real terms but my little boy would love to hear it on the upchange

Cheers for making his Xmas

Is it just because the diesel doesn't rev high enough that it's not very audible?

The farts are caused by fuel igniting in the exhaust which is the Ecu controls by injecting a small amount of fuel after combustion. As diesel needs compression to ignite this will never happen im afraid.

I think that's how the farts are created anyway. I may be wrong.

Thanks for the explanation on how they work.

I loved the little 'burp' from my old S3, shame I can't afford the fuel economy on a new 8V, I'll miss it so so much but enjoy my new quatro as much as I can.

You could change out the exhaust for a little more grunt?

One got a DTUK Box fitted for the little extra grunt, I didn't realise you could get an aftermarket exhaust for it though. Any ideas as to where?
