Retrofit puddle lights & door warning lights to 8V - help please.

I have the same problem got the fronts working fine, but can't find the rear control module any help will be much appreciated.

thanks

I cant help any further as I don't have an 8V, best to let other members with VCDS and the light pack from the factory fitted have a say.

sorry

I can send you an adaptation scan of my 09 central electronics module if you PM me your email address. May help to discover the VCDS coding required for the rears.

@Rob2k68 can you post your scan? I still haven't gotten my rears working and don't have a VCD until I rent again, will be good to have and try and figure out through the coding. Can you post your options too, on the hunt to figure out the gear number to show too, which should hopefully be a hex value change.

It looks like the needed adaptations for the rear doors are indeed within 09-Cent Elect, within the" Leuchte" and "Light Configuration" channels, and will involve a great deal of setting up in order to work. You will need to create x2 new "light types" and then assign them to two unused / inactive "lighting function groups" and then configure the their functions within the those groups. May the force be with you!

If someone with factory installed lights can send me an adaptation map of 09 - Cent Elect I can work them out and post up the results.

@Rob2k68 can you post your scan?

Not sure how to post it TBH but if you PM me your email then I'll gladly send it to you.

@DJAlix Just sent my 09 Adaptation Map to you as had your email previously.

Apologies for the delay, i couldn't remember what Audi's stupid name for it was! Found it now.

All the information Audi have issued is in the PDF attached.

The price is quite steep i think for what is essentially an LED with a lens to cast the Audi rings as a shadow.

At least with it being an OEM accessory you'll know it's been fitted properly and that it's a quality part.

If anyone is interested i'm sure I can supply you with them, (i work at an Audi dealership so get discount on all parts) if you're local to me then I could even arrange a technician to fit them for you!

PS i wouldnt be charging anyone a 'middle man' fee, just trying to help out fellow forum members!

Sorry it's taken a while to reply guys, but this has me stumped as the needed Adaptations / Coding is not where I thought it would be after viewing a map with Factory Puddle Lights. Here is a link to my Lighting Configuration comparison sheet for those who are interested:

*Am working on adding further detail

I have already fired and email over to VCP support to see if they can give me the needed information, but they are sooooooo slow in responding to requests. Am going to send an email over to RossTech also. Will update when I get some information.

any news about coding for the rear door ?

Not yet :( I will see if I can chase the emails I fired off.

One thing I was thinking about tho, as the front lighting is working, is there an option within the MMI Exterior Lighting Menu to control it? If so, I don't have the lights on my car, maybe there a rear menu sub option needs coding so that lighting can be turned on... if you see what I mean?

I had something like this when activating opening and closing beeps on a 2015 8V. Activated the feature via VCDS but it did not work until I added the MMI menu and then switched it on from the there.

Thanks. An option to control Exterior Lighting Menu exists within the MMI and could be possible that a rear menu sub option can be activated through the vcds coding.
I'll try to find something in this direction.

I confirm what taddy_izumi in a previous post said that on A3 V8 MY 2015 the controller does not exist in a rear door. Here is a 10-pin connector which has 3 unused pins in upper side and 1 unused pin down (see pictures ).
I suppose that the 2 of the 4 free pins will be used for the puddle lights & door warning on vehicle where the interior light package is selected. It is someone with factory-installed interior light package which can help us ?

I think I am wrong, a controller module will probably anyway located in the rear door but I think that It is not easy to access. Someone knows where it is located ?

I think your pictures are of the window regulator motor. The control module should be located here :-

I am located in ****, from the supplier who supplies the wiring kit. They copy from elsawin and have something like this

The pic in previous response 5Q 959 395 B is definitely the rear module, and Pin 12 is the power supply. The only problem is we need 5053/5054 cable to code the module to 'enable'

What kind of cable is this can you eventually send a picture ?

So are you saying that only VAS/ODIS can code this at the moment?

5053 is the VCDS/VAGCOM that we have been using for AGES
5054 is the latest one using in Audi Service center, it's also called ODIS

If the whole car is base on UDS / CANBUS; I wonder why the rear module can be hidden from VCDS.....

There are tons of 'retrofit shop' in China helping ppl to retrofit their China made Audi with the German options, all of them saying the rear module must need 5054 to 'access' and code

How easy is it to purchase 5054? I would like to get this mod working but I want to understand how retrofitters in the UK are able to fit the Led lights in the rear. Do they tap into a permanent live feed and that's it?

Ideally they should only be live when the door is open so taking some logic from the door ajar switch in the door latch or somehow tapping into the courtesy light circuit.

I confirm that I have not found any controller in de rear door.
Finally there is no control box in the rear doors on A3 8V Sportback MY 2015.

Finally i get the rear doors wired.
+12V supply from power window wiring red-yellow and ground from door latch wiring brown-yellow
coding is not required the result is the same as the front doors
The light goes off when the door is closed.

Good work! So the same method as MK7 Golf and it works!

Anyone trying to install the inner door handle light?
I have got all the parts. I know the front will be connect to the module and do some VCDS coding
But as we don't have the rear module now, where should I connect? to the windows switch illumination?

I think that is the only option also for the inner door handle light in the back door.

@ming6068 The problem for the inner door handle light is that it must remain illuminated when the door is closed which is the opposite to puddle & warning lights. Thus wiring from the windows switch ground is not a good option.

For powering the interior handle light the window switch lighting would be a good circuit to tap into but not the ground from the door latch as it's this circuit that is switched and won't operate with the door closed. I think you got window and latch mixed up.

Looking from the install procedure, i'm guessing you can't control the settings in the MMI and only works when power comes on?

I mean it's to use the windows switch button illumination signal should be close match.
But like what other member said, it can't control by MMI as it should be. but.. should it if you have factory interior lighting option?
