I made the error of not ordering my A3 (May 2014 S-Line Sportback) with the lighting option and I would like to retrofit the puddle and door warning lights.
There's a great thread in the 8P forum on how to do it on that model;
http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/my-diy-guide-for-retro-fitting-puddle-lights.58244/

I've bought 4x red & white lights as well as the looms. The door cards come off in the same way as described in the 'DIY guide' above and the lights physically fit the locations where the red reflector and the blanking plate are at the moment, the cabling seems to be quite simplistic.

However, either the door controller has changed or different pins are used.
On the 8P model - the supply is pin 18 and the earth is pin 19. On my 8V, the plug has these holes, 18 & 19, vacant and I can easily insert the wires of the new loom into place. But, where the plug goes into (the door controller) the mating pins 18 & 19 are not present! Therefore, no electrical connection.

Does anyone have any idea if the pin configuration is different and if so what pins should be used, or is it that the door controller on a car that doesn't have this feature in the fist place cannot be used for a retrofit?

All help gratefully received.

p.s.
The footwell lights must be a different component to the 8P version too, as the location aperture to receive them is square rather than rectangular.

The footwell lights on the 8v are Led which is why the aperture is square rather than rectangular. Does partsbase have the correct part numbers?

Yes, you're right the footwell lights for the front are 4G0919390A (square) & rear are 4E0947415A (rectangular) according to partsbase.

Hi.
I was fitted with a puddle light and warning light on the front door of A3 8V MY15.
On the 8V model - the supply is pin 16 and the earth is pin 5.

After wiring, it requires coding of both the driver's seat side and the passenger side.
Please refer to the following URL coding settings.
http://garage.jenare.com/pack-eclairage-dans-les-portieres/

Unfortunately, I do not know the wiring method of puddle light and warning light of the rear door. Please let me know someone good idea.

Good luck!

Thanks for the update - I'll give this a try. If I find out what the rear ones are I'll post back.

I expect a good report from you.

I am replacing the puddle light and warning light to twelve LED chips.
Lighting color of puddle light is "warm white", lighting color of the warning light is red.

Hi. I was trying to do this almost a year ago but was getting a bum steer from the German site. My fault too as I thought I was dealing with ambient lighting. Yes pin 16 is the live and 5 is the earth. Also if you are doing the led in the door handle (I was using an 8p supplementary loom) it is pin 3.
When you plug it in for the first time it doesn't work but turn the ignition on and off and there you go. Thanks to the poster who supplied the link to the french site.
Mark.

Like the OP, I made the same mistake and didn't get the Interior Lighting Pack. Anyway, is there an easy how-to and list parts/looms required for the 8V?

The above how-to for the 8P is perfect, and I was wondering if something similar existed for the 8V.

I'm also after the parts for the door handle lights and the interior map reading lights too. Anyone know where the best place to go for a 'full kit' would be?

I didn't spec the ILP either, and have been driving myself mad ever since. I haven't even picked the car up yet! I have the B&O so will get some illumination from those in the footwells, I'm only really interested in the cup holder LED lights as I have the B&O....I didn't spec it as my standard A1 s line came with footwell and puddle lights so I thought it was standard on the A3 S line....I would be happy to hear also any info on retrofitting especially the LED cup holders. If anyone has a price to fit or instructions, I would be grateful. I have asked Ash at Audi-retrofits to get back to me but haven't heard anything yet. Tr8ps has also been helpful..

I'd love the entire ILP retrofitted if possible. Those cup holder lights look great in the demo vehicle I looked at.

Hi,
I was equipped with a courtesy light and warning light to a rear door.

(Problem of vehicle where interior light package is not selected)
8V series is different from 8P series, and the controller does not exist in
a rear door.
Wiring does not exist in the vehicle where the interior light package is
not selected.

(action)
It should diverge from the following wirings when the warning light and
courtesy light are installed in a rear door of 8V series. Both are the
same of a right and left door.

・Supply (power window wiring red/yellow)
・Earth (door latch wiring brown/yellow)

(Attention)
Measures of the waterproof are necessary so that the door latch wiring may
exist
not the inside in the door partition but outside of.

Thanks for reply, so does your A3 come with these lights without interior light package?

Hi.
Yes,My A3 come with these light without interior light package.

A part set of wiring and light bought below.
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/8Pcs...-A5-A6-Allroad-Quattro-A7-A8/32244414920.html

RED LEDs are below.
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Led-...-MK6-CC-Tiguan-Passat-B6-4pcs/2019987944.html

Unfortunately, they don't seem to be selling an LED of "warm white" at present.

Did you manage to fit the cup holder led lights in the front?

Just want to say a big thankyou to taddy_izumi for the information given. I have spent a frustrating year trying to find the info supplied and am now well on the way to having 4 doors how I want them. I am still disappointed that Audi did not supply the door warning and puddle lights as standard on the s-line (I did not buy my car new before you say it....) and believe it is penny pinching on their behalf for what is the norm on lesser cars.

Hi,
Any further updates on the interiour light pack retrofits? I have my new A 3 Sline 5 dr sportback for a week now and I am regretting not speccing the ILP:chargrined:
I have the B&O fitted and would be interested to Know what the wiring is like on the 2016 my. I see a company (Hazy) fits these for a major price but am wondering if there has been any newer information for using OEM materials including part numbers instructions for diy etc or even dealers who might undertake the work.Ive tried following these threads but they seem to peter out and I am a bit puzzled as to if the OEM specc is LED or plain regular
Any pointers on who to contact or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Audi do a lower door lights as an accessory. Lights up rings on the floor! I'll try find it

Has anyone contacted @RobinA3 about the supply of the looms and lamps? He has access to all the wiring diagrams and if bought from him he will tell you correct pins and check it all out for you guys, it's cheaper than going to the dealer or hazzydays for the supply of the parts.

I havent contacted but will give him a try, thanks:grinning:

Apologies for the delay, i couldn't remember what Audi's stupid name for it was! Found it now.

All the information Audi have issued is in the PDF attached.

The price is quite steep i think for what is essentially an LED with a lens to cast the Audi rings as a shadow.

At least with it being an OEM accessory you'll know it's been fitted properly and that it's a quality part.

If anyone is interested i'm sure I can supply you with them, (i work at an Audi dealership so get discount on all parts) if you're local to me then I could even arrange a technician to fit them for you!

PS i wouldnt be charging anyone a 'middle man' fee, just trying to help out fellow forum members!

I'd rather see a puddle than 4 rings.

LR did something very similar a few years back with the puddle light in the Evoque door mirror projecting a side view image of the car on the ground.

So I got the front doors wired up and working, however not exactly sure about the rears. I put a multi-meter to the wire loom that is attached to the rear panel, but none of the pins were 12v.

@taddy_izumi, you stated to use the red/yellow wire. From the picture, is it the big wire on the right next to the larger brown wire?

I think this is wrong. The guy said the was no control box in the rear doors but there is. The Live wire connects to pin 12 of the 16 pin multiplug and the earth attaches to pin 13 (already used) and the control module has to be set in the vcds. This is what the elsa win wiring diagram shows. I haven't got the module programmed yet so I can't confirm that it works. I certainly didn't want to tap into that thick wire.

@fastblatt, ya wiring up from what @taddy_izumi pointed out would result in a quick dead battery. I tried finding another source with my multimeter but none of the pins were showing any live 12V signal that would turn on/off when the door was open/closed. There is a purple wire that had a constant 12V but then would drop to 6-7V at times. I tried the pins that were not there and all were showing no power.

So the live wire is pin 13? And earth is the brown? As for the VCD coding, where do you set this? I've set the in the front door modules already and have the front doors working, but are the rears controlled separately or the same? Thanks in advance for the info! Can you post the wiring diagram also for anyone that might need future reference?

The pins don't give the voltage because they have to be switched on in the vcds first. I do not know how to do this as I don't have access to the proper ros tec software. I can only suggest if you have the correct software you have a look in the rear doors and see if there is a box that can be ticked similar to the front doors. Sorry I can't be of more help
Mark.

Thanks for the info! I'll try hooking the wire up to pin 13 and seeing if that does anything. I'll also need to get the VCD and play with that and see how/what to enable for the rears if its a separate process. Will report back when I can get ahold of the vcd cable.

Here is a picture of the board inside the box for the rear door in a US spec car...

Sorry I have edited my post with the contacts. The Live is pin 12 the earth is 13

So got the wires all setup, however will need to figure out the VCD codes as this has to be a separate rear door menu to enable. Will report back when I get them working.

Not really sure where the rear door controller module is located at in the vcd to enable. For the front doors I have the lights enabled and they work, however the rears are not functioning.

Go in the front door module, go to coding, when the screen pops up their will be a drop down box function, change to the second option then click long code helper, if it allows you into their then that's the rear door module you have accessed.

I have a trouble. Please help. After the screen pops up, I cannot change drop down box function like this picture. Is there any option to adjust at the VCDS?
