What have you done today?

So my original S3 has been sitting in the garage for the last 11 months or so with no alternator attached to it, thought I'd do something about it today and fire her up with some help from my 'co driver' @rhubarb4.

Charging the battery up whilst I'm at it.

Crushed pipe isn't going to aid flow.

I do have a vid of the car starting up, but facebook won't let me attach it on here. The radiator had a hole punctured into it, but the condensor somehow, was still holding pressure, despite it looking rather bent! Need to pressure test the ic, and get it all together before I decide wether to break her or fix her? :(

Following on from my antics yesterday, me and my trusty co pilot @rhubarb4 swopped over a complete slam panel with condensor and radiator on the S3 today, and it's holding coolant! I even drove it out the garage to warm her up to temp with no leaks at all, but the power steering is broke. Nothing lines up unfortunately, so the cars front end definitely needs jigging before I can consider fixing it up!

Tomorrow, I will start prepping the White S3 for ADI.

Thought I would sort out my rusting calipers. I'm a bit unsure about the stickers though. Oh and I know the clip is missing, that's because I hadn't put it back yet

Laminated paper trick???

Read about it in another thread . Basically incase water runs between windscreen and skuttle panel you get a bit of laminated paper ( i glued 2 A4 sheets together ) and tuck one end under windscreen and the other in front of the pollen filter. Just means that water will run down laminated paper and into skuttle rather than into the pollen filter.

after three weeks i finaly find time to paint my car

Good to see ya back on track JoJo... Was it a bit odd being back at the scene of the crime?
Hard to say, did I take it easy going full pelt along Avon rise the first time round? I think there was a bit of caution there, but saying that, this S3 neither goes, stops or corners anything near my Black car, so it was impossible to actually drive fast in it! lol

Managed to get an A4 2006 Symphony 2 into the 2001 S3 - after some trimming with a Stanley knife and some brute force :) Lets hope I never need to remove it.

Done the a mot yesterday on mine and the advisory is clear felling gd

Finally got my cheap cable working. Did a lot of research about it all and what came up.
-Identified faults; Lambda, Camshaft position sensor. Did a lot of investigating fuses, wires, connections. Ordered some new parts to fix the issue. (Thankyou forum, lots of helpful info)
-Did a handful of 2nd gear (too many cops around here on a sunday to do 3rd) pulls from 2k-6.5k with data logging on all the blocks I can with the freeware version of vcds. Now just researching and trying to understand it all (at least I know there are no misfire or knocking issues).

-Cleaned the engine bay, all the bits I can reach without dismantling. (pic...I know... it's stock, but I want to understand the car better and ensure everything is A-OK before modding)
-Gave the car a clean
-Ordered some hose&clips for n249 bypass

Very nice and clean engine bay :) if you are going to scrap the engine cover entirely after the n249 delete - are you going to lower the oil filler too?

by the way I am coloured blind, what colour is your car? like an orangey-brown ?

Finally getting the chance to do some logs for Bill.. About a month late but with the new house and weddings etc.. Finally get a day to drive the car!

The organiser, the owner of the restaurant it is held at, has a tuned Porsche 964 RS and it started as all the modified Porsche lot. This obv led to all sorts of other exotic stuff. Now there is literally at least one of every awesome car you could think of, lots of owners clubs. I also think it helps being on a Sunday morning. If this were a Friday night in Liverpool it would be a different story.

We had one last night in plymouth, at home park (our football teams stadium) The car park was full before the meet was even due to start and the police had to block off the entrance, it was chaos, there was still 100's of cars lined up trying to get in! was quite a sight to behold tbh. I ended up driving right past and back home again.

Another step on the slow path.... step-by-step
Replaced the camshaft position sensor. No more fault codes appearing for that :smug:, and a bit of performance fixed.
Did a quick couple of logs, maf g/s has bumped up from 185 before sensor change to 193 g/s now. For what was sold to me as a stock car, and I'm fairly sure is all stock parts, that seems higher than expected.
Maybe someone mapped it without changing parts, or I have a boost leak with no fault, or something... Oh well, more research and fiddling to figure it out is always fun :glee:

(stuart - thanks, and yes its Absolute Red taken with poor camera. Haven't decided on engine bay visual changes yet)

After seeing how much my old tyres were scrubed on the inside it finally gave me a push . Also picked up new nuts and bolts for them, read a few posts saying it was a good idea.

And finally i used the last of my halfords shampoo so splashed out on the following as i like the BTCC team

IMAG0260.jpg

`My doorcards were starting to look tatty so i redid them all in grey vinyl, that red glue audi used to bond the original material to the panel is a mission to remove
