Hello peeps,

I had a cracking weekend (just gone) away at a wedding with the bambino, Mrs and in-laws. I'm saving for a wedding so managed to acquire the in-laws car for transport and left the S3 on the drive. On the Sunday we returned to the in-laws house to find that they had been burgled. Seems they removed a window hatch leading into the bathroom and then let the rest of their accomplices in through a larger more accessible window. The house was upside down with all contents of the cupboards and drawers laid out on the floor. Persistence is key for a burglar and no stone was left unturned but more fool them as I retain keys in my pocket. So, realising their efforts were fruitless they turned to other objects in the house, acquiring jewellery and family air looms etc.

When the investigation team arrived they managed to lift prints off the window and a thumb print off the car handle. Hopefully they will identify the scumbags and deal with them accordingly. This happened in the Blackburn area.

I write this post as I'm looking at a tracking system for the car and if anyone has any recommendations, tied in with price and functionality.

Thank you for taking time to read this and hopefully it will avoid a theft of someones beloved whip.

Wish I didn't see that now, talk about make me even more paranoid then I already am. I have Datatag on my motorbike. I wonder if you can add something like this to my seats. Also looking at a better alarm system now

Hmmm worrying.... Just been looking at 'secure my car' website, time to beef up the security I think !!!! The Viper system looks good.

Really sorry for the OP, nothing worse than having your threshold breached and your possessions rifled / removed, especially when it includes heirlooms. Terrible shame.

Given all the 'RS3' look-a-like cars being sold on eBay I'm not surprised they're being nicked. Many of these being sold out of the West Midlands, maybe the fuzz should start searching there.

Maybe time to swap the seat bolts for something more difficult to remove.

And a bit of smartwater or etching for good measure. Could you use theft proof bolts. Pentagon protection film on the glass might be an option.

Should really start data logging these seats... All this craze has started due to the idiots that put Bentley wheels and the likes on their cars... Absolute scumbags... I have a baseball bat next to my door, anybody comes in my garden at night without prior notification its swing 1st, ask questions later....

A small tip I do when leaving the car somewhere I dont trust (which is the majority of places) especially overnight... I always disconnect the maf sensor... That way its going nowhere regardless of keys... And ot would be more noticeable and time consuming if the bonnet had to be opened to try figure out what was wrong...

Its a terrible situation nowerdays where we cant have anything nice, without some scumbag trying to ruin it... This is not a new thing tho... I fitted a smart switch to my old RS turbo which cut the power to the fuel pump so wasnt feeding fuel until the switch was pressed... Very easy to do on 8P aswell

Car should run fine with the MAF sensor disconnected.

Didnt mean it exactly like that... Just generalisation of the phrase... Thats why you find rs4 seats and bentley wheels on like tdi golfs... I wonder how many of them that do it have legit parts... Thats what I meant... Plus I think bentley wheels on anything apart from a bentley looks horrendous, but thats just me

Why not use Nordlok washers on the bolts for the seats. A complete cow to try and remove then and whilst it won't stop them breaking in it would certainly make removal a damn sight longer to do. Not impossible but possibly long enough for them to give up

its a bit crude, but, spot weld the seat runners to the chassis, its not like a thief is going to be under your bedroom window with a cutting disk on a grinder at 1am is it.. This is of course, an extreme action and is fine if you never plan on removing the seats

yeah its all a joke i have the big buckets and i would like to stop them from being stolen but at the same time what do you do if you make it harder they will only end up making more of a mess of the car ! im lucky that i am up in the sticks in cumbria so not many organised gangs to scout out my car and try to avoid going to certain areas

A bit harder for me as I live in cretin city (London). But its something im actively looking at. Wish there was a way I could make them 'live' with mains supply, that would give them a shock lol. Might have a look at the bolts with the previous suggestion in mind. Never seen theft proof bolts

you could just get hold of some shear bolts , they simply tighten up so tight then the head snaps off them making it impossible to remove with normal tools , its just finding the right size bolts !

My car runs with the MAF disconnected also? Disconnecting it was a quick way to identify if you had a fecked MAF.

I meant heirlooms ha apologies for my grammar.

I think with the majority of thefts is that they are "stolen to order". Nothing is safe guys, I want a tracker, cameras and a sub-machine gun on movement sensors (even the postman will get it).

What about covering the bolts with epoxy resin , I know it would not stop them totally but it would increase removal time , they would need to cut the epoxy to get to bolts :)

Done something similar on my old bmw...the front bumpers were getting nicked left, right and centre.

It's good stuff and would deffo double if not triple removal time :)

Has anyone seen this security film for the glass!? Meant to be really good stuff... Can break the glass but the film is what I can only imagine breaking a windscreen would be like!?

I don't know the cost, but it hasn't really been advertised for years now. I know the local Pentagon franchise shut up shop a few years ago due to falling sales mainly caused by the Front Tints ban.

Pentagon Glasgow: SupaGlass 2 - YouTube

Must be expensive if they are replacing the windows...

Check this video out tho, exactly what we're looking for.. And if its available from audi, then why not fitted as standard!? Would be ideal!
