Hi guys,

Can i get your views on this.
On the verge of ordering an Audi A3 Saloon Sline 1.4TFSI COD manual with the following specs:
- metallic Shiraz red
- Comfort pack
- Advanced key
- Door mirrors: auto dimming, electrically adjustable, folding and heated
- electric lumbar support
- privacy glass
- Satellite navigation SD card based
- tyre pressure indicator.

Had a test drive today and we talked about the financing. After much negotiation we arrived at 1500k discount, PCP with a 4k deposit and 373/month for 48months.

Good bargain? Think i can get some more cuts with a bit more negotiation???

Hi, if you look at my sig you will see my spec I have ordered. I got £1995 discount, dep £2000 monthly payments £368.88 over 48. Mileage 5k a year...

Set your mileage low to lower the monthly costs. Your car will almost always be worth more than the GFV, and it's rare that people just hand them back rather than pay the GFV or trade the car in, so you won't be stung with excess mileage charges in that case.

Thanks a lot guys. I'll work on the mileage issues. Then again, how much of a difference is it having just the Sat Nav option as against the full technology package - is the full pack really worth it??

I got the MMI Plus for the larger, higher definition display. I don't want to have to purchase another Sims card to turn the car into a mobile phone so I didn't purchase the full technology package...

I'd agree with this worth a think

Pardon my insistence cuke2u, is your option the 1450 or just the 450 priced sat nav?

Wow, what's the list on these? My a4 black edition was £500 down, £390 a month over 4 years! Why is the a3 saloon dearer for what is effectively a smaller a4. It's the 2.0tdi I got.

I actually opted for the basic Satellite Navigation system - 450, in a bid to cut costs.

For reall? Did you mean £500 down as deposit or £5000???

Because the A4 is an old model and not a larger version. The A3 saloon is completely new and has only been out for a few months...

It was £500.00 deposit. I know the a3 is just out, my point was for those figures would you rather not have a black edition a4 for the same money?

Yeah! You do have a point, which is why i am hoping i get make a good bargain on this one.

Hope you do, those figures seem steep on pcp. My brand new c class coupe mercedes was only £500 down and £350 a month as well on a car that lists at £35000 on pcp!

Errr, why would I want to buy a car that came out in 2008?

Well I guess they have to sell them somehow...

A4 is too big anyway, I don't like big cars. A small reasonably punchy hatchback is the perfect size for me - practical enough when I need it to be, but easy in the cities and to park etc, and more efficient and lighter as well - nicer to drive. How people cope with those massive 4x4s (that most of them probably don't need) I'll never know! Q7s and the like.

...but wait a minute guys. pardon my utter ignorance on this subject, but why do the dealers press for a higher deposit and higher monthly payment. In a way doesn't this mean the customer / car owner gets to pay up more and sooner living a lesser 'balloon payment' at the end of the contract?? I don't know. i don't get the catch

The GFV is fixed by the length and mileage that you choose, so they don't have any control over that, but I would have thought they would try and push you for a lower deposit and higher monthly payment, seeing as it's the monthly payments that they make the interest on really.

Well, yeah they do want a higher monthly payment, but at the same time initial more deposit.

Strange, as they don't make any interest from the deposit.

Hmmm! If the interest is on the monthly payments then makes sense why they'll want a longer duration. I guess the whole idea of asking for more deposit would make it seem as though they are helping.

Seems a little high to me. My spec is in my sig but although its about £1k less of add-on's than you, I'm getting it for £359 p/m for 3 years with a £3000 deposit.
