Right. My lambda sensor is shot.

I know i need a 22m open socket to remove it, but whats involved? Its mainly on the wiring side, where does it connect to? Is it a plug connection or is it hard wired in and will it need cutting and soldering?
Also wheres the best place to purchase one from?

I changed the pre cat lambda on my s3 last week and i used an NGK lambda socket from a local car parts dealer for £3, and i got an oem lmabda for £90 from my local vw/audi parts supplier, i think theyre called VCS or something like that. the lambda just unplugs from the wiring loom just above where it is mounted, just follow the wiring up from the lambda for approx 30cm abd youll find the plug underneath some heat wrap. i found it a lot easier with the strut brace removed too. then i just put the lambda socket on the lambda, then used a ratchet with various extension bars and the bendy gadget thing you get with most good socket sets. came out really easily and went back in just as easily. hope this helps!

Thanks alot mate. Is your car apy or amk/bam?

Its a BAM... and the car shop is called TPS, i think theyre all over the country.:)

Thanks mate, ill give audi a call in the morning and see what they want.

No problem... i can imagine an audi dealer will be expensive so if it turns out to be a lot then i think other people on here have bought Bosch ones online for about 90ish.

More than likely.

I just need to find out if ive got 4 or 5 wires, theres some good ngk ones on ebay that i may buy.

Ok well my 2002 BAM had 5 wires, but best to check just incase yours is different.

Mine should be 4 wires then from what ive read and what youve just said.

Thanks cheif.

Dan. You can get bosch ones from euro car parts... you could for mine anyway
Ive got the socket at mine if you get stuck.

sorry to hijack your thread fellas but my lambda needs doing to, just wondering what socket is needed(is it a special tool)?
cheers
tom
