Ok, friend of mine has a Fiesta ST, "says" it hasnt been modified, well not much.

Now im not a complete twonk, i know these things run at around 148bhp standard.

Correct me if im wrong, a 225 bhp TT standard (pretty much) should be able to tow this thing faster than it can go? Or is there something terribly wrong with my TT.

Althought i kept up with him sort of bumper to bumper, I would have been hard pressed to overtake him!

Have i got something wrong here? :racer:

Id of personally said yours would eat an ST for breakfast!! Iv had a go in my mapped s3 with 1 and i just gave up it was that easy!!!

The Fiesta ST is probably as light as the cans used in tin can alley... regardless I would have thought/hoped your TT would steam past it easily. You sure he's not telling you porkies about the mods either that or your motor is down on power, MAF maybe?

If what your saying is right, then i would say my turbo has gone i was that much down on power haha.

I would most definitely hope that the **** has it modified.

Im going to have to find out, might get the TT upto Midland VW have it checked!

i've had a little play withthese. although they are quite nippy there shouldn't be a problem overtaking. mine is remaped but non the less in a standard tt there shouldn't be too much of an issue i wouldnt think.

mate, your car is fecked if you cant keep up with a fiesta ST..... i took one at the weekend.... he was being pushed by a CLK230 Komp that was beating him by quite a margin, i subsequently kicked the CLK

From what i have read the Fiesta ST isnt exactly fast in its class either....

Well like i say going to try and get booked in at Midland VW today, see if there is anything wrong with mine, if not, then i think my mate in the fiesta is feeding me some ******** about it not being tuned; or i really am a crap driver!! haha

Going over to Chipped UK today, got a feeling my MAF has failed me!

Will find out later no doubt

Maz, can i just say, your car looks the badgers ******** with the 18" s4's!!!!

Just like to add ive had a play with the 170 and an rs focus and (had to lift off for the rs i was that far up his ars) so im sure a 150 fiesta should be no problem!! and can imagine the fiesta has as much torque as my grass cutter!! lol.

Have you had the car on Vagcom to see if it brings up anything??

Yeah had a problem recently with N249 Valve playing up, changed the DV and this seemed to cure it, but it maybe that its the actual N249 valve playing and ive just eased the problem changing the DV.

Im also getting a "shuffling" noise when i lift of the accelerator, almost like a dump valve but considering i dont have any type of atmospheric valve and i have checked the air box and it hasnt been modified or drilled in anyway; what else could this be down to?

Considering changing the MAF aswell today, is it worth getting an aftermarket one from GSF or a bosch one from Audi?

From what i remember its always better to get a genuine Audi Maf.

Try VAGPARTS.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this? Better to go with a bosch MAF?

the standard item is Bosch i believe..... i have a bosch 1 on order as we speak.....think theres a few variants tho so make sure you get part number as opposed to just engine code

id also look on top of the engine as theres a tee piece that connects above the N75 valve.... quite common to breaking and will feck ya fuelling up a lil

cant imagine his ST would make much difference modified, unless he's strapped a turbo to it....

Just ordered one from Audi Streetly near me, only £75 part number 06A 906 461 MX

They are £67 from GSF for an alternate brand, hardly worth the time going to GSF instead!

Ill check the T piece, but isnt that the N249 valve, thought the N75 was at the rear of the engine bay, sort of behind the air box?!

I had a problem with my n249 valve in that, bein a manual device to open the dv, it can create faults causing it to go into limp mode!! There is a mod i read where you can bypass the n249 (from the t-piece) as it has no real use (been told its a common fault and is cheaper and just as safe to get rid of it)

I would yes absolutly get a bosch maf, are the gsf ones not bosch? I thought they were?? I know that when you buy one you can trade yours in to make it a bit cheaper,

As for the noise your getting when you let off my s3 is mapped and i can quite clearly hear the whoosh of the air getting put back into the system and the turbo coming off spool and i have a 007p dv, do you think you could be listening and worried about noises that have always been there as your down on power and concerned

Very possible, but i dont have a 007P DV nor is it remapped (well dont think it is)!

I will take it over to Chipped UK later on and find out exactly whats upsetting it, it could be a culmination of split T piece, N249 and/or MAF.

Ill just change/replace/repair any that needs fixing.

Ill keep you posted later on, what i find may be of some help to others.

yeah the N249 valve, you could be right....always getting the two mixed up..... if it is gone then your best off making your own up as Audi want £65 +vat for new hose kit....

Scott, im trying to source my power loss flagged at prosport....VAG COM not coming up with anything so gather the N75 will be ok? changing MAF first

sorry to steal thread.....

If im right in thinking, that mod is detailed on the seatcupra.net forum?

Think ive browsed over it before now, i know the mod quite well, but in all fairness, if the N249 was put on there by the manufacturer, its there for a reason and im not keen on removing anything that has been put there as standard. im sure most would probably agree!

If your getting power loss, i had the same issue on my old A3 1.8TSport; check MAF, boost hoses, DV or all recirc hoses aswell.

I had erratic tick over which was caused by a split recirc hose, which also caused a loss in power and subsequently ****** the MAF aswell. Its a good place to start!

cheers Mark..... im changing the MAF so will see if thats a biggy or not.... Prosport suggested the DV but VAG Com is not flagging any faults.... unless its a small split.... ive done a check of the hoses but there are quite a few not accessible....

I agree about the N249.....its there for a reason

Tim, Take some MAF readings from vagcom first. I think idle is something like 3.0, if its under then its shot!! In my old s3 the maf reading was well off, replaced it and didnt make much of a difference!!! lol. As for the n75, ive never had a fault with mine so i couldnt tell you the effect if yours has gone! If its major power loss your experiencing im guessing its more than a maf!! I got told, if the mafs shot, it downloads a standard air-fuel ratio to your ecu. Sounds daft, but have you checked the plugs?? Ive melted a platinum tip before causing major power loss, running on 3 cylinders!! lol.

As for the n249 valve, I dont blame you marky, i didnt bypass mine so try and sort it.... Suppose its better to no its there just in case it is needed. and yes i believe its documented in the lcr forums!!

GSF mafs are bosch, only downer is that they ask for your housing in replace for there new 1 as they re-use the housings!! plus they aint cheaper at all!!!

when i bought my car it had the 249 bypassed to have an atmospheric dv fitted, the dv was relocated to the inlet side what they done was the inlet pipe had been hacked in half then a big t piece put in and the dv run off that, the 249 had just been unplugged nothing else, don't know why this was done but had it put back to how it should be with a 007p after a month but i'll give it's dues it run just the same either way now i just don't get the gary boy sound!!

Also have you ever pressure tested it for split hoses?? Deffo worth doin in my opinion!!!

Well believe it or not, the Audi stealers have asked for the old housing too haha otherwise its £92 or something silly.

I dont mind them having the old one, but rather someone run some diagnostics on it first, Chipped UK seem like a good reputable company, im sure they will find whats wrong with it.

Hopefully nothing to expensive, want to book a last minute holiday in a few weeks haha

Had full service inc genuine plugs back in Feb mate... defo not running three cylinders lol..... although my laptop is running vista and the version of VAG Com wont let me do those type of readings without registration first.....

Well, found out it was the T piece on the N249 valve causing me grief grrrr.

Will get one to replace it tomorrow and hopefully all will be well :)

Nope, believe it or not he put it on VAGCOM (like i did anyway) and it showed up the N249 fault again but no engine light this time!!!

Whilst he was doing that i popped the engine open and took the cover off, i noticed the little white plastic T piece has split in half!

Anyone know the OE part number for that T piece? Or what ID and OD the pipes connecting to it are?

Mark you have to buy loads of pipes mate, they cost about £60+vat from Audi and you cant get pattern....i made my own, got a T piece to fit across the two big pipes then used a small piece of fuel pipe to connect the smaller hose to the tee using jubilees and a reducer

Damn it, does anyone know what the bore size is on the pipes connecting to the T piece? Ill knock one up at work today!

no idea fella...... took me 4 hours and about 6 motor factors to get the part...ended up using an aquarium air filter 'half' as a reducer in the end.....got really tedious

managed to knock something up at work. pneumatic hose fittings 4mm with end some open ended pneumatic quick fittings and a T in the middle.

Ill give it a whirl later, should do the business quite well as its capable of upto 120psi!!!

If it works well, might offer to this people on here and other forums, i can get the bits quite cheap, much less than the £62+VAT audi want ! Probably talking about £15-18 all in delivered for a good quality replacement :)

also heard that some people just block the small hose and the Tee with a screw, cant imagine this would do ya fuelling much good.....

sounds good mate...not an easy thing to put together as the hoses are irregular sizes

the T piece does make a difference, if you guys remember the Clio Sport thread where i got overtook in the top of the rev range.....i put this down to the T piece as it wouldnt hold as much boost.....

That post still ****** me off today!!! too many people thinking they no it all!!!! But i agree, deffinate rematch Tim!!!
