Very cool but maybe not the best touring car ever, the E30 M3 is the most successful touring car of all time so has to be in the running and what about the RS500 it was so dominent they changed the rules to stop them racing.

What about the r32 skyline...untouchable,effectively banned with cunning rule changes!!

Never saw a skyline as a touring car...

The a4 back in the day with frank biela at the wheel was class.

Yeah the A4 was awesome when it first hit the BTCC. I remember watching the Audis totally dominate at several races.

My favourite as mentioned by S3Steve was the RS500. The last versions of those cars before they were banned were running 600bhp+ and with the right gearing would top 200mph.

Yep i'd pick the RS500 too, I thought the skylines ran at selected events and were from the european championship, just like the RS500's of steve soper

i agree bring back the days of proper touring cars withe the primera and lagunas etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

That was def when touring cars what at it's best, all the top manufacturers ran cars, although I've got back into recently and is def getting better again, but no match for back in the day! The A4 ruled, especially in the wet with it's 4wd, no one could touch em. I loved the Volvo estates which were run at the same time too.

As for skylines they simply dominated where they were run. Mainly in japanese and world touring cars I believed, to a point where no one race against them anymore so they spawned their own chamionship, think they were run in australian touring cars too, where again they ruled, even against the rs500s.

I have to say the Vauxhall Vectra once they sorted the rear end out, but then I have to as I own the road car spawned from the BTCC racer lol :D

Yeah yeah, and the A4 Quattro kicked it's butt :D lol

Peugeout 405 was the best looking, and the worst performing :D

always remember when thompson went backwards into the trees at brands hatch

the days off tarqueeni (sp?), volvo V70's? (blue + white, had a scalextric car of that, lol ) mansell in the duckhams mondeo, blend 37 lagunas + vodafone primeras

quality times

Guys don't forget that from 2000-2005 the Vauxhall Astra coupe 888 became the most successful touring car in the modern era. By the way on the cool wall regarding the Astra coupe 888 not one of the pictures is of the real 888. There were only 100 made by triple 8 engineering on behalf of Vauxhall.

imho i think btcc today is too 'safe'!! bring back the good old days when it was hell for leather!! :gun2: When we (i did anyway) used to watch it just for the crashes!! My faves was the 850 estates and alfas.... but didnt they get ban at one point?? Not sure if i made that up!

i always wanted to be a touring car driver when i was little and drive the 850 estate, i dont know why but i think its a great looking car!!

I went to brands hatch a couple of years back and James Kaye crashed near where i was sitting and his rear bumper came off, and i went and asked him for it! random i know, but he gave it to me! and signed it too! shame it was sponsered by Kaliber beer! well i say a few years back, it must be what maybe 8/9 years ago.

But i wish btcc would return to how it was, with more drama also with a wider variety of cars.
