A3/S3 delivery lead time?

I've been long time lurking on this forum since ordering & just goes to show what a lottery build allocations are.

I ordered my S3 with C&S pack in March and my build date is expected to be week 39. Can anyone confirm, when the build weeks are usually locked in from any further changes? I'm guessing it would be now but not 100% without asking the dealer

I went for an A3 and build date was locked in a month before it went into production

Ordered late November and I was just told by my dealer that my car is suppose to be built week 49. However it's not a locked time so it could change sadly.
My dealer also said he had no clue about it missing any spec so hopefully I get what I ordered

Followed this thread for a while.
Ordered the TFSIe 45 S line Competition Dec 21, originally meant to take delivery August 22, then September 22. I chased for an update through the lease company, they have said there is no longer a projected build/ delivery date for these models and given a rough estimate of the Q1 23.
I made a new enquiry at the same dealer, they said the the s-line has a minimum lead time of 28 weeks if ordered today, the Competition variant have all be pushed back the Q2 23 regardless of order date, they couldn't answer the question of the extra delay for the competition, he himself said he has no idea as its essentially a trim level upgrade with the electric motor being slightly more powerful.
Seems info on the 45TFSI e is consistent then.

Should be a lot more of them on the road from March 2023.

I'll have a 22 plate Sline 40TFSIE up for sale as soon as my S3 Vorsprung get delivered if anyone is after one!

Hi All, reading the comments page by page it doesn’t look good for me! I have as of today ordered a A3 tfsi e competition via a lease company and they don’t have a an expected lead time. It only currently shows as “No Weeks”. I got myself all excited for it to only come crashing back down. I have a mate who works for Audi and the sales repeat time to told him it could be anywhere up to a year.

ordered mine last year august and still no progress.
sales man said the car is build but sitting waiting for parts, mind you this was said back in march this year, and since then salesman changes his excuse to “no confirmed build date” “car is in build but taking long because of chip shortage etc”
tried to complain to audi HQ but they did nothing other than tell the salesman to call and update me

Yeah, as mentioned before I think the message from Audi is consistent:

No 45 TFSI e models to be delivered until Q2 2023.

Just a shame the facelift comes along 12-18 months after that.

I’m in shock !!

“I’m pleased to say this one is finally built and in transit!! That means it should be good for October delivery, but I don’t think it will be here in time for the end of September”
did you end up getting it end of september or october?

So I ordered my car in March 2021. After multiple delays I finally got a confirmed build week of ‘week 35 (29 aug 22).

I’ve just checked on mine again and it’s still showing as build week 35. I’ve been told it means the car is built to a certain standard but has probably been stopped waiting for parts.

Audi are the worst company I have ever dealt with. They seem unable to plan basic production and estimates are wildly inaccurate. This will be my first and last Audi.

Ordered my A3 45TFSIe S-line Competition early September 2021. build week has gone from wk 14, to 37 to 34 and now is wk 2 Jan 23. looking to get delivery March 2023, if also goes well. My dealer has said it may change and am expecting it to change, sadly not earlier. I wont be holding my breath. i ordered the ambient lighting and aware that this has now been removed as an option, but it may come back later this year if it does then it will be added back no to my build. again not holding my breath on that one.

I have tried every month since ordering to add the extended ambient lighting but Audi have told the lease company this cannot be done. EAL available on higher end models like the Q7 though.

I remember seeing your message on here a few months ago its a shame you've had to wait so long.

I had similar issues myself and was originally told to expect delivery in May 2022 after ordering Nov 2021. I then had unconfirmed build dates jumping between July-August and got confirmation the car went into production on 5th September so just a week before you. Not had any updates since so maybe my car is having similar issues to yours.

I do wonder how other car manufacturers have been with orders. My mate ordered the cupra born earlier this year and got it two months ago. Also know someone else that got an aygo quickly. If I knew in advance my order would take this long I wouldn't have gone with it...

After reading some of this week's posts, I contacted my firms fleet supplier to ask about the A3 45TFSI e S line Competition I ordered last August. They have confirmed that no more of this model are being built this year (MY22). And that they will be allocated to build year MY23. Though no build weeks have been given, I have been told that the earliest I can expect my car is March '23! Not a happy bunny.

Sorry to hear that you’ve had to experience the same shocking experience I have.

the latest info I have is that the car is probably sat awaiting more microchips (their excuse for every delay)

Most other manufacturers haven’t had delays of the same extent and none seem to have the issue where cars are being fulfilled in random orders.
I agree, if I’d known it would take this long I wouldn’t have ordered either

I will say that my work is in the electronic component industry & there is still backlog on microchips and components however for 2023 many manufacturers have filled out their production purely for the automotive industry so I'd expect things will ease

Audi's other issue I saw reported was their wiring loom source was in Ukraine, think it's proven Just In Time manufacture isn't the be all and end all they thought it was and they should stock components for build

My last update, last week, was build date hasn't changed however I'll give it until the end of that build week and see where we are at with things while it's so close now

Another strange thing is how orders are prioritised by Audi. Some people on this forum have had their car delivered in the space of a few months whilst us and a few others are waiting much longer.

So the last time I heard from the dealer (which was around 1 month ago) I had an unconfirmed build date of next week, however I’ve not heard any more about this actually going ahead… looks like I’ll just receive a phone call some day saying that the car is ready to be picked up

Cancelled A3 45 tfsi e order.

Build date pushed back and back to a point I didn't even have a provisional build date anymore.

Had enough of waiting, and paid off my 2019 Leon cupra last month. Now I've got an additional £310pm in my pocket and my cupra only has 26k miles on it.

I'll keep the cupra for another 2-3 years and then jump straight to fully electric. I like what polestar are doing!

Good luck to all those with more patience than me! :)

Well my build date of next week has slipped I found out yesterday. Only a 3 week slip from that so hopefully week 42 actually happens. I'll hold my breathe and check in a few weeks if it changes again or not

Apparently, my S3 Vorsprung, ordered in the first week of January, has gone into build today. I remain circumspect.

After reading a couple of threads earlier on in this forum. I have
become a little concerned about the delivery time for my new
UK spec S3.

I ordered it about a month ago from Holland and the dealer there said
delivery time would be about 12-14 weeks. Is this true, or is it!
likely to take longer than that. Also, anybody else who has bought an
A3/S3 this way or ordered one from a dealer here in the UK, could you tell
me how long you had to wait.

I am patient, but after ordering it I'm having trouble thinking about much
else but driving it

Thanks.
From order to my current build week I would be 32 weeks then delivery time after that.

This isn't far from what I was told when I ordered in March this year. Think it's probably about 3 weeks out from the build week advised just after ordering

I was told initially I would see it this year, hope was within 6 months but could be 9 months

I keep close to our dealer anyway so get pretty regular updates by just sending a text to my sales guy

I ordered an S3 Vorsprung in week 1, and was told it went into build this week (week 38). Then another 4-6 weeks to build and deliver, I guess.

Does anyone know how it will take for the car to be delivered if it is built? My car has been in build since 5th September and just wondering how much longer I will be waiting if the car is ever built

How long did they take to build it? Spoke to leasing company yesterday and they said on average the build can be 6-8 weeks then up to 4 weeks for delivery

Mine was built and delivered within 3 weeks, which was fast!

I ordered mine (A3 35 TFSI MHEV Sportback) on October 2021 in Greece.
It was supposed to be here on June 2022, but was delivered on September 2022.
Well, it took a while... :)

(by the way, software version 3801 - no software issues so far).

Im too preparing my self for a long winter, waiting for my A3 TFSI e S Line Competition. Original advise I was given was up to an 18month wait (Only ordered in July this year) ! Although the information I get is patchy to say the least from my employer

18 months is ridiculous, and to make it worse I couldn’t even pick all the options I wanted due to the semiconductor shortage!

I did make some enquiries to BMW on the new 3 series hybrid last month, who said they could secure a build slot, and I could see delivery early in the new year (no later than February!) Shame the spec I would have wanted fell just outside the price bracket (and my employer seems to have a thing against beemers lol)

I will be keeping an eye on what updated models or facelifts we see over the next few months. If the facelift A3 is on the horizon, would be a shame to take delivery just before the new version! (Rumours too of a hybrid drivetrain for the 1 series on the horizon, I’ve been loyal to Audi for many years, but my patience can only last so long!)

Thanks for the information people are contributing,

I received some great news about my car being built last Wednesday. I have been told it will be around 2-3 weeks for it to be shipped over and have checks done before delivery. Has this been accurate for others here?

I ordered an A3 40 TFSI e through a lease company in August 22. I was originally advised that the stock date was 31st March 23. I received an update this morning stating the vehicle will be delivered to the dealership on 1st November 22. We will see!

Interesting thread here...

Ordered a A3 45 tsfie competition last week. Dealer showed me some powerpoint he had from Audi showing the build slot allocations for the car. Q1 had no more slots with Q2 being the next availability which is consistent with the posts on here saying about March onwards for their orders.

TBH I wasn't in too much of a rush so was happy with March/April but just hope this doesn't slip further.

Yes - everyone I spoke to, the lease company, Audi dealerships etc were all quoting Q2, so when I was given the 31/03/23 date, this was exactly what I was expecting. I've asked the lease company to double check the dates with the dealership and they have come back and confirmed that the proposed stock date for delivery to the dealership is now 01/11/22 and they expect for me to be taking delivery of the vehicle in mid-November.
I'm not convinced these details are accurate, but if they are then I'm obviously very happy to take delivery of my new vehicle before Christmas! It does make me wonder if the lease company has pre booked build slots with Audi - I'm not sure if this is a thing or not but it seems the only logical explanation as to how it can come forward by nearly 5 months.

I think you'll probably get it for Nov then if not Dec, I know from my dealer if I wanted the 40 tsfi e that was going to be early Q1 but the 45 tsfi e was Q2 onwards. Fingers crossed for you.

I'll keep you posted :) I've ordered Python Yellow - maybe they accidently painted too many yellow shells and they need the space or someone else decided they were a nutter for picking yellow so cancelled their order! I mean, who wants a yellow car apart from me lol?!

Hi everyone I'm hopefully receiving my car in next two weeks as its now at UK port. I had put the ambient lightning pack on but it was not build in the car I ordered. If anyone else managed to get the pack on before you ordered, you may not receive it.

I hope the wait is worth it when I finally receive the car. I've been driving a mazda 2 and look forward to driving a more powerful car!

Great news,
my build week for my Vorsprung was originally 39 but dealer told me last week that it had slipped again to week 49.
Its slipped 10 weeks in 6 months, dealer said should be early next year, fingers crossed!!
