Tracking our new RS3?

I remember when HUD started filtering to cars and everyone was “wow, want that” but it seems most people are in agreement, as in distraction. Now I’m not a hater of that system but I have experienced it before and I too switched it off. So IMHO good in a 700mph fighter jet but a bit pointless on a car.

I'm yet to meet anyone who says HUD is distracting. I haven't seen Audi's version so maybe it's BMW's version that isn't distracting. I've lived with it for a couple of years now and wouldn't want to be without it. Unless I'm actively looking at it I don't even notice it's there. In fact, it took me a few months to get in the habit of looking at the HUD speedo rather than the one on the dash.

The info it provides is excellent and much better and safer than looking at the dash or centre screen for it... Directions, switching radio stations/tracks, current speed, speed limits, etc etc.

360 view (I need it, I live in London with about 6,000 roads with width restriction bollards that are barely wider than a Fiat 500) and HUD are probably the two toys I'm going to miss most if/when I make the switch.

Agree, the BMW HUD is brilliant. I have the Mini one (pop up screen) that isn’t as good as the BMW mirror displaying on windscreen but very happy with it, and certainly doesn’t distract. Like you still getting used to looking at it as opposed the digital dash.

That’s what I’ve decided in any case - truth be told it’s a £60k car so it’s hardly going to be bad…

If something goes seriously wrong that is where manufacturers warranty steps in PCP is nothing to do with it .
How you manage your PCP deal is totally upto you but imo putting a minimal deposit into a deal is the worst thing you can do .
And I wouldn't say your taking profit into your next car I'd say its what your left with

Warranty is great and I perfectly understand what you're saying and how it works, but when things go pear shaped having the finance company onside is a massive help. At the end of the day, they will take the vehicle back and the financial liability and asset value is theirs not the borrower. They look want/need the car to be in A1 perfect working order.

Each to their own though, we all have our own plans and ways of doing things, some people take pride in ownership some people see cars as a monthly cost. We still all get to drive them so for me it makes no difference, I'll still be able to kick back in old age and look back on all the memories and adventures I've had in all of the cars I've driven.

Agree, the BMW HUD is brilliant. I have the Mini one (pop up screen) that isn’t as good as the BMW mirror displaying on windscreen but very happy with it, and certainly doesn’t distract. Like you still getting used to looking at it as opposed the digital dash.

Had the heads up on my M3 with the coloured rev counter Speedo and sat nav arrows etc it was a cool feature to have. Not seen the Audi graphics yet. but I would tick the box if I could…

Ive told them I need a demo drive before im handing over £58K...............so, from their view, ''we'll sell the demo car at a good profit, then at least 3 people with deposits will back out and we can sell their cars on at huge profits as well'', win win I guess

Ive turned into a prowler, I visit the showroom every couple of days looking for that 'demo car' that hasnt been built yet

What are you so uncertain about the car that you need the test drive to purchase? as all of us are parting with the same amount with no test drive....? and visiting a showroom as many times as you are is not doing yourself any favors either

Well i test drove a S3 2015 before l got my own first demo car had magride and my car didn't huge mistake hated that S3 sold it as soon as l broke even on the pcp...niave back then far wiser now anyways if you dont like the RS3 Flip it short test drives tell you very little its only when you've lived with the car a few months then ye know

yes mate Daytona this time for me. Thankfully I’ve never had that colour before so it will be new to me even though it’s been around a long time. I’ve always admired Daytona but gone with something else in the past. I also think it does suit the 8y RS3.

the white is growing on me too now we’re seeing some more / better photos but I need a change from white.

i know you try to play your games mate but yes worst then s3 for me as whole front end blend , if grill will be matt then good if black frame be made of carbon then will be amazing but audi this days its cheap ;-) on a3 range

current a6 has better materials then latest s3 what is a joke

No issue at all my friend, no playing games here though, S3 does nowt for me in the 8Y guise. But as you rightly pointed out, everyone likes different things.
