Excessive vertical jitter in dip head lamp's beams

Seeing quite a lot of , what looks like vertical beam bounce
Is this a sign the adjusting motor's and or gears have seen better days ?

Can this unit , headlight adjuster be simply fitted , or do we need access
to one of the VAG set -up routines .. ?

Had the same issue it was the clips that go to the headlight that connect to the adjusting motors change them it's all good no vcds required. They hand they have a tendency to snap get brittle with age.

Tnx , the beams are correct , but at a distance , do look to have play in the aiming mechanism
bit accentuated , by having brighter than normal , beam units ,,

So am I right in presuming you're thinking it's something to do with the self-leveling

well , unless the internals are fragmenting , something is allowing the beam to jitter
the leveling system is as old as the car, the head lamps a couple of years

Give it a scan and see if it comes up with any error codes anyway just to be on the safe side
