Hi

For those of you with the Tech Pack (virtual cockpit, bigger MMI, phone box etc), did the spec on Audi's website state 'Navigation system High' when tracking the build progress? Reason for asking is, that my car shows up as having a non-virtual cockpit having setup my.audi.com account with the car's VIN number (car is still in Germany though). Aaaaaaarrghhhh! But the MMI screen looks the right size (bigger), so perhaps its just a graphic error? On the dealer order form, it definitely states 'tech pack'.

Cheers

In the UK if you have Tech Pack then you get the enlarged center screen and the Virtual Cockpit. It is very possible that in other markets you can have the upgraded navigation without the Virtual Cockpit hence the image you have posted. MyAudi is certainly not without error so would npt panic and if it is wrong when it arrives then that is a probelm for th dealer to sort out

Aaaaaaaarggggh....I was right after all!! Supposed to be picking up the car tomorrow but just got a call from Audi Grimsby saying they forgot to add tech pack to the online configurator ,despite stating tech pack on the initial order form. They’re saying they can order a new car with the right spec or offer me £500 off ( as well as the cost of tech pack) for the car they have at present. I think I’ll take the car as it as as I can’t wait another 3-4 months. What a bummer as I was really looking forward to having a virtual cockpit, bigger MMI screen etc :(

Gutted for you, you wonder how they can make such a basic error :weary:

If you definitely want the tech pack, is there any brand new unsold stock at the dealership, or within their group?
I'd push for something with a higher spec from them for no extra cost.

They offered me a couple of other cars (still in Germany) which had the Tech Pack but which came in the 40 TDI rather than the 40 TDI Quattro engine variant. As good as the Tech Pack is, I wouldn't take it instead of the Quattro option. (I've ordered the 40 TDI Quattro)

In the end the dealer has taken £2000 off the price (£1500 Tech pack + £500 discount) and a free £250 OEM Boot Tray thrown in for free. Hopefully one day someone like NHN or HazyDayz can retrofit a Virtual Cockpit and bigger MMI screen lol

Why don’t you ask them for a loan / demo car until a new factory order is ready? It would save you 3 months of loan / hp payments (assuming you are financing) and also wear and tear etc

^^ Getting a loan car was the first thing I asked them and they told me to Fox Oscar. Very very disappointed in Grimsby Audi, not just with the fact that they messed up the order but also they decided to wait 24 hrs before handover by telling me this. The car has been sat on its **** for nearly a month in Grimsby and they’ve had plenty of time to check the spec and let me know of any issues but no, they had to let me know at the very last minute ( I couldn’t pick up the car earlier due to be offshore).

anyway I’m going to Grimsby today but if the car doesn’t look right without the Virtual Cockpit , bigger MMI screen etc then I’m walking away. No way am I paying £37k for a car I’m not happy with.

Definitely, because every time you drive that car, the problem with it will be staring you in the face, mile after mile....

Have you contacted Audi UK customer service on this to escalate the matter? I would imagine (probably not though) that they can put some kind of solution in place for a loan car (even at a nominal price equal to or less than your monthlies) to make things right?

The whole situation sounds appalling, I’m sorry to hear about all this.

Edit: I’m sending you a PM now with some contact details on someone you could reach out to.

Finally picked up the car yesterday and...have accepted it as it is. Would have loved the Tech Pack (mainly for the virtual cockpit) but the non VC still looks very classy - looks far better than in the photos. I would even argue the temp & fuel gauges look better with the non VC than they do with the VC (sour grapes lol), also love the permanent red LEDs on the high rev counter. Having said that, I will get in touch with the Audi CEO office to see if anything can be done, though probably very difficult now that I have accepted the car.

As for the car itself...wow :yahoo:

Drove it back home for 450 miles yesterday (Grimsby to Inverness) and loved it. The 40 TDI engine is soooooo quiet & refined, you wouldn't think it was a diesel, sounds more like an electric vehicle lol. Couple of minor irritations though: its a damn pain having to manually switch off the Lane Assist and Start-Stop functions every time I start the car. Also the fingerprints on the touchscreens....uurrgghhhhh. Need to invest in an e-cloth/microfibre cloth.

Love the grey/brown interior trim as well, really chuffed chose this instead of the standard silver trim. Suits the Black Edition trim really well.

Plan on adding Traffic Sign Recognition using the Kufatec dongle and also some customizations via the Carista OBD dongle - want to add door lock/unlock audio chirping & enable rear DRLs (Scandinavian style).

Will post photos very soon :icon thumright:

Cheers

Glad you're happy with it. Looking forward to the pics!

Glad to hear that things worked out albeit in a different way.

I’m super curious how the grey/brown interior trim looks like in the flesh as haven’t seen one before - can I request photos of this to be posted as well?

Some pics here. In real life the brown appears a very dark brown (no grey), almost black-ish, hence why its suits the surrounding black. Second from last photo is probably the most realistic colour wise.

IMHO looks far better than the standard silver!

Thanks for the pics!

That looks very nice, it’s giving me feelings of regret for not ordering mine with that option!

I first saw that interior trim on the A7 Vorsprung in my local dealership and really liked it. For £350, I thought it was well worth it.

Did this on mine, well worth it.

Mine came with a free microfiber cloth, check the glovebox.
Duh! You were right...there was a cloth included in the glovebox.

I've noticed there's a MMI setting called 'clean screen' or something. I take it this just darkens the screen (so easier to see where you're rubbing) rather than actually cleaning the screen for you? lol

It turns the screen off so you don’t press buttons when your wiping it down.
