I am the new owner of a 1.4 tfsi sline and I previously had a 2014 sline same engine. The 2014 model had headlamp washers and they worked. My 2017 model has the cut outs in the bumper but they either don't work or they are not there. My question is are they standard on the s-lines or were they an extra. Also the variable wiper mode is not variable, has anyone experienced both, bear in mind this is the facelifted model

If it has LED or bi-xenons I belive it should have headlamp washers as it's law that headlights over a certain brightness threshold need washers. My 62 plate A3 had them as it had bi-xenons, keep it mind they don't come on with every wash.

I don’t understand the logic of requiring washers for lights over a certain brightness. I would have thought it was the other way round if anything.

its because the dirt etc can alter the spread of the light and possibly blind oncoming cars. Not sure how likely that is in reality.

After 2015 they seemed to stop including them in all trim levels. Well at least here in the states.

All these ultra bright headlights blind many drivers anyway. I have a real problem with them now and my wife can no longer drive at night because of them.

Turn headlights on, pull washer stalk for about 8 seconds, see if they pop up.

The threshold is 2000 lumens, washers were an option from a certain model year...

Actually the brightness of them has come down, which is why washers are not compulsory on many vehicles. It might be the colour temperatures you are sensitive too. Some find blue light particularly disturbing, which is the temperature of many LED's, because it 'flickers'. However many myths are attached to blue light and the ,allegedly, damage it can cause. There is no scientific proof of damage...

My 2019 S-line with the LED headlights has cut outs but there are no washer jets behind them.

Facelift S-Line trim didn’t come with headlight washers as standard but had blanking covers in the bumper. Also the facelift came with auto wipers, so does not have a variable intermittent wipe function, the switch on the wiper stalk controls the sensitivity of the amount of rain on the windscreen before the wipers operate.

mixed reviews but thanks for all the input ,I'm in agreement with Mark R as my previous 2014 car you could pull the flaps out manually but on my new car they seem to be fixed its a shame as they have given so many other extras but scrimpt on others. The variable wipers are sooo different from the 2014 model
