Hi all, I'm in the process of retrofitting the OEM reversing camera to my MK2 TT, using the R8 module and RNSE. I'm using an aftermarket camera as there is no OEM version for the TT, as there is for the A3 (A6 version and boot handle I think?). In my test fit, powering the camera directly with 12v it worked.

Now I have wired it in properly, powering the camera from the module, it doesn't. Using both VCDS measuring blocks and a physical multimeter, the camera is only getting 6v.

So my question is, do the OEM cameras only need 6v?

Unsure about the OEM cameras using only 6v.

You could use that 6v signal for a relay wired to a 12v source.

It's a workaround unless 6v isn't the correct voltage and you're just putting a sticking plaster over an issue.

Disconnect the camera and measure what the voltage is at the source of the said power supply

I was planning to use a relay as you mentioned, I actually have one but haven't tried it yet.

I think I did measure the camera voltage with the multimeter with the camera disconnected but not sure, will try again. What for, if you wouldn't mind explaining?

As expected the relay approach works fine

Just want to confirm that the voltage is correct rather than a sign of an issue

Cool, thanks :thumbs up:
How do you know? Is this across all Audis then?

It is usually across all OEM cameras, the majority that I've come in contact with are 6v.

When we fit aftermarket headunits in cars where we can retain the factory rev cam, the retention kit comes with a voltage dropper to power the camera at 6v.

in my case, camera worked but not when you put it in reverse, then the guy installed some adapter after that it works normal.

I have got it working with 12v through a relay, though my current problem is that the OEM module keeps it powered permanently and my camera doesn't seem to like that. After a while it stops working

I have wired the camera to be triggered when in PDC mode (button pressed or reverse gear) though this small delay as well as the camera feed not always being present logs a fault code and then it mostly doesn't show the camera feed at all

I'm still experimenting, unfortunately there are no obvious OEM cameras for the TT, as there is for the A3
