Just seen this for sale and it got me thinking!

I couldn't live with the plate like that, it would drive me crazy  That's just laziness and lack of attention to detail by the person who put it on.

Noooo

Squinty number plates is a pet hate of mine. That example shows a shocking attention to detail, and makes you wonder what the rest of their operation is like.
Its one of the things I look for when picking up a new car, and if they are not on straight I wouldn't leave till its fixed. Thankfully this has never actually happened though. :innocent:

Exactly my view, if they are that lazy with something you can so obviously see, what are they going to be like with everything else???

Body, engine bay or interior modifications, aftermarket wheels, wheel spacers.

Automatic gearboxes on anything other than a large SUV of Lux barge.

Wonky licence plates

Squeeky interior trim

Fake vents

Sound moderators

Brake assist

Cup holders in rubbish places, and not adjustable for a can of Red Bull

Fake exhaust pipes
The wrong model badges added, M, AMG etc
Finger print covered touchscreens
The new A1

Any dealer advertising on a car(except on number plate).
When I was young it was common for dealers to stick their own advertising badge on the back of your brand new or used car, and most people seemed to blindly accept this. I remember when buying my very first brand new car in 1989 I made a point of telling the dealer(Peoples Ford) not to stick one of their badges to the back of my car. Guess what I seen when I arrived to pick up my car? :rage: I was understandably quite annoyed and told them to get it off!!
Thankfully this practice does not seem to happen now, but people will happily drive around with dealer advertising in their back window. :frowning:

My local dealer puts a sticker under the model badge. Thankfully very easy to remove and leaves no residue, but plenty leave it on around here

To me this is totally unacceptable, and I would be furious if any dealer put an advertising sticker on my cars bodywork. Look at it this way.....what gives them the right to think they can have free advertising on your property!
Back in the day it was plastic badges similar in size to manufacturer model badging that dealers stuck to the cars bodywork.

I don't remember these plastic dealership badges on cars - was it a regional thing?

And what’s even worse is badges or stickers on cars that are not even from the same manufacturer!

A couple I’ve seen in the last week,mk4 Golf GT TDI 130 badge on the front grill of a Freelander and a MK1 Focus with a sunstrip that has TRD racing developments written right across it! some people.....

Just like the Land Rover Discovery Sport rear number plate location
WTF were the designers thinking of
Couldn't have one of these for that rear number plate location alone lol

Was very common practice in my area back in the 80's. Trust Motors, Peoples and Taggarts were 3 large dealer groups that used to do it.

This would drive me mad. Guy on YouTube picked up a new A1 for his Mrs... The screw caps for the number plates have been put on wrong. The left screw cap should be yellow and the right black. Again, very lazy from whoever he bought the car from

I agree 100% (or 110% to quote another pet hate of mine lol).
I thought I was the only one to say this would actually stop me buying one of these. Just makes the car look wonky.

Lol, at what point in the design meetings at JLR did no-one have the balls to say “hang on a minute, can I just ask a question about symmetry please”. Couldn’t live with this - would drive me crackers. Not that I’d have anything from JLR anyway though (except maybe a nice tricked out ‘Fender like our lad @MattSedg ) - Gaydon is just down the road from me so every other house in my neighbourhood has an employee Range, Disco, Velar on the drive.

The sad **** of the Disco clearly annoys enough people to warrant an after market fix, lol...

https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-n...-fix-your-new-discoverys-offset-number-plate/

Anyways, back on topic. What annoys me? (I’ve had a good week as you can tell by my rants below, so forgive this as ‘therapy’ @S32B - you’ve caught me in the right mood, lol). In no particular order, this WEEK’S TOP 10:

1. Other people’s cars that have sticky steering wheels. Yuck. Just wet a short pile microfibre, wring it out, spray a couple of squirts of APC on it and wipe over your steering wheel once a week/fortnight. ***, takes seconds. Right up there with having to use someone else’s keyboard that is caked in ***** (quite literally in some ******** cases). I don’t want to feel like I need to wash my hands when I get out of your car (or use your keyboard) :puke2:

2. ****-ends that park anywhere near me in a car park. Full stop. I always ‘defensive’ park as far away from anyone else as I possibly can. I always go for an ‘end’ spot if I can get one. That is not an invite for ‘you’ (present company excluded, of course) to cosy up next to me for a cuddle. **** off.

6E58E88E 0079 4946 9E94 829888C2F6C8

3. People who sit in the middle lane on the motorway. When there is no need to. Nuff said. Hardly original, but drove me nuts today.

4. Lorries that ‘overtake’ on dual carriageways. On a hill. When they have a 0.25 mph of speed advantage over what they’re overtaking.

5. Lack of respect for other people and their stuff. If you love your car, then I love it also - I don’t care if you drive a 20 year old motor, or the latest RS7. If you respect it, and others and theirs, then I doff my hat to you :hi:However, if you have no respect for your car, or those of others then you deserve a hot collaring. I was at Sainsbury’s today and watched, flabbergasted, as this Neanderthal of a sub-human rested her shopping bags on the bonnet of the car behind her while she opened her boot (while her kids opened the doors straight onto the doors of both cars next to her :wtf:). I asked her what the hell she was doing. She said ‘chill out mate - they’re only cars!’. My wife touched me on the shoulder and said ‘leave it’. For the sake of my kids I did.

6. People who insist on giving you detailed verbal directions when you tell them you’re going somewhere. When you haven’t asked for them. And continue even after you’ve said ‘It’s fine mate, I’ve got Sat Nav’.

7. The start/stop function on my S3’s S-tronic ‘box. It’s been asleep for winter, but now the temperature is rising it has come out of hibernation. And it’s p1ss1ng me off because I’ve got out of the habit of switching it off as part of my start up routine. Need to book my ticket to AITP 11 @Sandra and make an appointment with @DJAlix for a memory module modification!

8. Everything everybody has already said above (although mods can be cool if OEM+ Matt, @Lehn has the right idea, research thoroughly, and do it right).

9. That the Amazon ‘default’ delivery option for a couple of items I ordered for the car was auto-set for PAID delivery, even though I qualified for free delivery. And I didn’t notice. Cynical business practice. Shame on you Amazon.

10. Not car related, but the fact that my wife has noticed how I now make a grunting noise in the morning when I put my socks on and suggested I need to start Yoga classes. ***. :help:

Need some Buddhist ‘zen’ time detailing the car tomorrow to restore my balance, lol.

I've got the most infuriating plastic rattle coming from my passenger door at the moment and I cannot find the source of the problem for the life of me. I've taken the door card off and cannot find anything which would seem to cause an issue.

100% the same issue, every time my girlfriend will tell me that she can't hear anything... Drives me up the wall!

Wow... flood gates open.

Where do I start.
Mentioned before the dealer stickers or branding anywhere on my new/used car is unacceptable. Even had one stick a sticker in front of the third brake light on the rear window so 90% covered. They even got sneaky now as well it’s on the number plates now so not as easy to remove compared to a badge or sticker.

People who can’t park/drive mentioned above.

I am very surprised no one has mentioned fog lights. Front or rear left on after a tiny bit of mist that we had 3 weeks ago. Front is more annoying as the drivers thinks it’s somehow cool.
In fact misuse of any lights. Seen idiots drive down a motorway with only their drls in the pitch dark even most have auto lights.

Have to agree with numbers 2-5 there @Jimbob76 especially the parking one. Drives me up the wall!
Middle lane hoggers are just lazy drivers in my opinion, more often than not I'll end up overtaking them on the inside by using the lanes properly (and no not cause I'm speeding or undercutting) just because they're sat doing 70 in the middle lane!

Something that I only see when I am pedestrian but affects cars (and pollution).

Well it is when another pedestrian walks up to a crossing with lights and without a glance at the road presses the button. The thoughtless dim wit then looks both ways and notices there is not a vehicle in sight so walks straight across with the walk light still on Red. Then a minute or two later a line of cars and trucks is waiting at a red light for a pedestraian who has long gone. Urrg.

Ah, how could I have forgotten the fog light / DRL one!
The number of imbeciles who still don’t know that, even when they’re insufficient for the light conditions, front DRL’s (on many cars) means you don’t have any tail lights on. Thankfully some, like mine, do.

Think what these idiots don’t understand is the lights have 2 purpose, primarily for the driver to see the road and second for others to see them. It’s the second they don’t think about.
They are either selfish or just stupid.
Just last night had a beemer 3 series fly past me on m90 with just the angel eyes drl on and when it past the rear lights weren’t on. He must have been doing 80-90mph. There’s no way he could see far enough ahead at 11pm.

I got DJAlix to activate my rear DRLs really like how they look as well. But yes people think auto lights sort everything.

How come your car needed the rears activated? Was it your S3 or S5? My S3 is a 66 plate MY17 and it’s has that as default.
The other thing these nutters don’t know, with the auto headlights, is that it can be light enough in fog not to automatically activate them and they need turned on manually.

Another one........

Apart from the general trend in people not knowing what lane to be in on roundabouts, I’ve noticed this one.
As you are on a roundabout in the inside lane indicating right to take the third exit, people enter onto the roundabout from the second exit on the outside before you’re past sometimes blocking you from exiting to the left at the next exit.
:wtf:
