Hey Guys
I'm a bit of a newbie here so please excuse me if this thread is already somewhere out there.
I took my 3.2l A3 in for its service last week, 330 quid which I thought was a bit rude too. Unfortunately I have a few problems I need to fix before its MOT in 2 weeks. The one I'm most confused about though is an 'EVAP canister fault'. I've never heard of an EVAP canister before this (I'm no mechanic but I can use a spanner). I've done the general research online and it look fairly simple to change. I just thought I'd ask for advice from anyone whose had the same problem before - I'm struggling to locate the EVAP canister, all diagrams/vids I've seen so far are showing it on a 4 cyl engine and it appears to be slightly different on mine. If anyone can point me in the right direction and give me a few pointers I'll be very grateful!
Sidenote - quoted 250 for the EVAP canister replacement (and 560 to change the rear coil springs).
The coil springs I can change myself but after a brief look under the car yesterday I couldnt see any breaks or cracks, maybe trying to do a fast one on me?.. Ill take the wheels off tomorrow and have a proper look befofre buying parts.
Just wondered if this seemed like fair pricing to you guys? Its all done through a reputable VAG specialist in Basingstoke. This is my first 3.2 so 285 a spring seems very steep to me.
TIA to anyone who can help!
