As you’re all away all new Audi’s use the digital serving schedule, for any services carried out at the dealerships. On the face of it it’s a good idea, but it the dealers are not updating correctly.

My car has had 2 services as well as an S-tronic and Haldex services from 3 different dealeeships. After each service I have been given the invoice and a printout of the digital service records, Reflecting the work carried out.

However as you’re aware there is a free phone service to check on a service history of a vehicle. Out of curosity I gave them a call, and discovered they only had one of the services on the system and also missing the s-tronic/haldex services.

I rang the 2 dealerships in question who checked and confirmed that they could indeed see the missing services, and had no idea why they were not visible by Audi UK.

I’m back on the phone to Audi UK who can only see one service on the system, but I explained the situation. luckily I got someone more knowledgable this time, who said he was going to log into “another system” to see if the services had been recorded. Lo and behold the “missing services” are there. He then explained the systems at main dealers are connected to the severs in Germany, hence the history gets recorded there, but this is not where Audi UK check, as they use the UK version. The dealers apparently have to update it somewhere else to show up on the UK version, but he explained they rarely do and they have this issue quite a lot.

Now it doesn’t make a difference to me as I know the work has been carried out and have the printout of the invoices and service record, but this can sure cause people a problem when selling their cars as when prospective buyers make enquiries with Audi, they can potentially you have lied about the service history. Of course you are then dependant on getting a knowledgable person on the other side, and a bonus if you know about this yourself.

Just putting this out there as it may be useful anyone buying or selling a car that has a DSR. Would be interested to know if anyone has had similar issues

Best to be old fashioned and file the paperwork

I do file the paperwork but the dealers need to update it properly in the first place, which is the whole point of digital servicing. Do you really want to hand over invoices with your personal details to a stranger, which will then get passed on every time the car is sold?If we still need the paperwork then we might aswell go back to service history books and stamps. Dealers need to stop being lazy and do it properly, after all they are charging you a premium for something you can do for a fraction of the costs, and it’s only a 5 minute job.

BrummieLad. I wasn’t aware of this phone service. What’s the phone number?

Mike- it’s 0845 7699 777, and say you need to a service history check on a vehicle. They have a dedicated team for this.
