Lowering or Wheel Spacers or both?

I'm toying with the idea of springs, I hadn't always planned on going down the MSS route but now I'm more tempted by the H&R option?
Any experience with these?

One thing I don't want is any scraping on speed bumps, who has experienced this? @terminator x ? Because yours is dropped quite a lot.....

@AudiNutta
Sounds like, you like me are not happy with the visual appearance of the standard RS3 set up.
I was thinking of springs too but went down the spacer route first.
I'm now happy with the stance, it is transformed. Pictures don't do it justice.
Trouble with fitting springs is they will defo impact your warranty and potentially PCP specifics.
Plus theres the cost especially if you fit MSS (a bag of sand fitted!)
Bear in mind too the FL setup is superior to the PFL so changing springs is not needed for any potential understeer cure.

And it's much easier and quicker to wip off the spacers before taking the car in for any work or eventually handing it back.
Worth trying spacers first.
Fit them yourself, they'll cost around 160 for a set.
Mine are 12mm all round.
Yeah i know it needs a clean, especially the wheels!

The undertray does catch very high speed bumps but only just and you will need to drive over them slowly (as intended!) rather than blast over them as some seem to do. Mine is only lowered by the standard height BTW and the MSS kit is adjustable so can or could be altered.

Thanks for the reply. I do drive over speed bumps gently but I didn’t want to lose any impracticality and find myself worrying about what I can / can’t get over, some of the cars on the roads these days are ridiculously low.

I want to add my own touch, previous cars I’ve always found little things to do in order to ‘make it mine’, I’m lacking in inspiration for the RS because it’s pretty much perfect from the off. The arch clearance is a little high for my liking though and I don’t like decked cars.

With steering rack issues on my S3, I am a little concerned how far the warranty impact will go. I’m not worried about the PCP aspect. The whole idea of going for an RS3 and not an Approved Used RS4 Avant (B8), was Warranty so what’s the point in voiding it... I want to have the confidence I can take the car in and have stuff sorted without biting the wallet. My car isn’t run on a budget it gets the best treatment, but who would want thousands of pounds of repair bills if something should go wrong when it could have been free.

What spacers do you have, did they come with longer bolts? My only concern with spacers?.. you will end up with more s*it up the side and back of the car, with less cover on the tyres.

But yes, compare the RS3 to the new RS4 and the design is extremely disappointing.

The warranty won't be void because of springs although I wouldn't expect Audi to sort out a problem if the product isn't theirs so yes a risk of sorts.

Eibach and HR both do spacers to fit the Audi A3 hub.
Hubcentric spacers are used for widths over around 8mm, this just means they have a protruding ring that centres the wheel.
You generally buy a kit for each axle which is two spacers, the kit will come with correspondingly extra length (length dependent on the width of spacer you chose) bolts and locking nuts.
I got Bimecc spacers 12mm on mine only because that's the brand sold by my local tuner.

As for more shxx up the car.
I've not really noticed.
My wheels are now flush with the body so shouldn't be an issue.

That’s fair enough yes.

I think the best thing is to go and ask Audi. If Audi told me they fit Eibach that were warranty friendly I think I’d have it done, even though they are the least favourited of them all on the market.

£160 you said for all 4? Can you link me in to the ones you’ve bought please?

I’ve got no dispensable money left after spending a fortune on the Mrs’ Corsa, but for that price... I think I might have to! :O Just must NOT tell her.

Fantastic, thank you.

Will go for the Bimeccs I think, no reason not to for the cost... metal plates after all!

Locking wheel bolt, did you just use your existing? Obviously will be a bit short :/

Consider them ordered, oops.

It’s simple, if you modify the car then expect Audi not to cover anything that directly relates to the modified part that can effect its performance. So in this case there shouldn’t be any warranty implications as the spring doesn’t effect any other component.

I’m sure Audi will come up with a reason why a spring would have adverse effects on a steering rack, haha. All linked together ultimately.

You seem really quiet on here recently AN what's going on?!

I’ve kept myself off the forum of late, everytime I come on here I seem to be having some form of conflict.

I’ve got two pages of unread threads to catch up on and that’s just the RS3 forum.

Thanks a lot for that, means a lot.

Only a few minor things that have left me wondering why I bother being on here, been working a lot too but I’m getting back into it now... nice to see there has been some activity in this section.

Keep posting AN imho you have a good perspective on things.

Are BIMECC reputable? Never heard of them and seem unbelievably cheap in comparison to H and R. Was looking to buy some 10 for up front and 15s on the rear

Lmfao, long may that stay the case!

Might go buy them this now

I would have fitted myself but being I have no drive and have to park on the street I got a local garage to fit. They charged 190. The spacers thru them were 160 with their mark up.
But as above you can buy them for 125 and fit yourself. A no brainer if you have the surroundings.

Just spoke to a garage Autohaus and they said £57.00 to fit, hours labour, so at £125.00 direct from the site then £182.00 all in isn’t bad at all.

Will order later but 12 upfront for sure but 12 or 15 on the rear?! What do you think?

£57 to fit :seenoevil: it’s a 20 minute job, and you won’t find many things much easier to fit

I personally would not go to 15 as 12 is more than enough front and rear.
Maybe 10 front 12 rear.
Mine are flush with the sides now when looking straight on. But those rim protectors do stand out !!

Ah they only have a set with 10 and 15, no 12. Think I might just wait and see when car arrives before I buy any....would make more sense, but surely an extra 3mm won’t be too over the top in the rear over the 12s. Hmmmm

I had mine for a few months before fitting them.
Defo wait till it arrives. I assumed you already had the motor !

Mine have been dispatched today, little nervous how much poke I will have.

I wouldn’t worry with spacers regards to the company as long as they aren’t Wing Wong Woo’s, it’s a machined metal plate at the end of the day.

Bringing up my previous question which I don’t think was answered, use the original locker without issue of length?

I’ve spoken to my local place today, they said 30mm drop with H&R’s is very borderline for scraping etc. They said that they can supply Eibach also which is a 25mm drop. Who has any feedback on Eibach Sportlines?? I don’t want to be ruining the car! I still think MSS are just too expensive at the moment, got 3 holidays in the sun to pay for haha!

That’s who I got to order my downpipe through milltek. I’ve got a friend fitting it for me but they are going to do the 4 wheel alignment for me after fitment.

AN, the Bimeccs are quality CNC machined and TUV approved.
They do come with new lock nuts and an undoer!
