Ordered... S4 Avant

Well after a 3 hour test drive and then a further 1.5 hours of negotiations ....I've push the button and ordered!
So it's time to stop hijacking this thread and start my own.

Congratulations!! What deal did you get?

Equates to 12.5% from dealer plus Audi finance contribution.
£5.5k equity in my current car plus £1000 deposit gets me to £592 a month.
I'll get stung for the new tax as dealer recons May delivery, but I'll avoid the 2% price increase.

Can they not register it before April 1st if it's built before then to avoid the tax hike?

Did all you s4 owners get mats with the car ? Every car I've previously had hasn't had them so had to buy afterwards. I've just been googling to try get some for when it arrives but without luck. All I want is black with maybe s4 logo on.

Yes came with carpet mats. Dealer threw me in a set of the winter ones.

No logo though on the carpet ones.

Mines a lease so I can't see them throwing anything in haha but I'll wait to see what comes then. Hopefully if it doesn't I'll just go to local Audi and they will have some (5mins up road)

I read in another post that the car could be registered once the VIN number is known, but not sure on the legal ramifications of this. It would have to be registered in my name ( to avoid a former keeper on the log book).
Plus that would mean I own the car befor the dealer has PDI'd it so I would already be responsible for the car.
Also I'm sure the finance company wouldn't allow it as it would be prior to the actual transaction.
To be honest, I would still be facing the tax issue as I wasn't planning on chaning untill later in the year so I jsut need to suck it up.

Has anyone opted to stay with the standard 18" alloys? Many people here seem to have upgraded to one of the 19" options, but I was curious if anyone hadn't and chose the standard boots.

And Status 39 at last!! Not sure why mine didn't join the other "second batch" lot but at least it's on a boat and not stuck in Emden any more.

Probably time for a note to the dealer asking them to be very, very, very careful with their prep

...and going to see if I can get a set of mats thrown in come to think of it.

I have Dave. I've nearly rang up a few times to add the 19s but held back as lease car and trying to keep the price down. But going off what I've seen nobody has got them so im now thinking mine will be unique and hopefully you can't tell there a inch smaller.

I wouldn't be adverse to the 18s just not overly keen on the style. I have a set of 18s with winter tyres for my current B8.5 S4 and to be completely honest the car feels a lot nicer to drive on 18s.

Like Nath.S4, I'm also leasing so was keen to keep the journey into the options list short. However, I went for the 10spoke 19" wheels as they are a relatively cheap upgrade (£275, IIRC) and I am not all that keen on the contrasting colour of the standard wheels. Last point is a practical one, if (when) they get kerb scuffed [obviously not when I am driving :)] I think they will show the damage less, and will be easier to get fixed cheaply at the end of the lease.

What spec did you go for ? I was only interested in how it drives and what it looks like inside. If I really hate the wheels I'm going to buy some new ones and swap over then put originals back at end of lease. Did you get window tints ?

Just the 19" wheels, metallic paint (Navarra) and Virtual Cockpit. Would have liked a few others, like tints, folding mirrors, matrix lights etc but once you start, it can be hard to stop. I am coming from a BM with halogen lights so am sure std LEDs will be a monumental improvement anyway.

Yer tints are the only thing I wanted but couldn't justify £450. The local firm to me did a xmas half price offer and i was quoted £80 but I haven't got the car yet :(
My 3 extras where black pack, virtual cockpit, flat bottom steering wheel.

Those alloys go really well with the white paint. Good choice :)

Popped in today to pay for the S4, picking it up on Saturday morning! Begged them not to register it on Friday 13th...

I'm having mine registered and picking up on Friday 13th. Has never bothered me really and considering the motor is a beast I think it's quite apt! Popped in today to sign paperwork, despite a good prowl around the dealership I couldn't see the car, the dealer has it hidden, they know what I'm like!

I'll be photographing mine providing the weather is good. Am nervously waiting, BlackVue removed from the Q5, new baby seat waiting ready, just my patience to test further as I wait until 10am Friday!

Can any of you lucky S4 owners tell me if the exhaust sound is real, i.e a valve system or fake sound in the cabin
Like the B8.5? Have search but cannot find any info on the exhaust, just sound clip videos

Thank you for the link, exactly what I was looking for!

So now I assume the vavles can be left permanently open like a few I've seen on the RS5

Yes - I think you can set them to stay open in VCDS and @Thundercliffe81 has volunteered to be lead guinea pig for this one IIRC...

Since I am picking up my S4 on Saturday, and now have a VIN, I thought I would take a look at the Audi Connect stuff. Is there a sticky or other thread for the Connect apps?

I'm curious why there is a website called myAudi and another called yourAudi. I used the latter to track the order, but the logon doesn't work for the former. Why the two, I wonder?

Also, I have downloaded the Audi MMI Connect app for my iPhone, but there is also a myAudi app listed, which claims to provide a range of functions I presumed would be covered by the MMI Connect app! Do I need both, or will they just overlap?

I tried to add my car to yourAudi but it asks for a registration plate, and didn't recognize mine as it is not registered until Saturday! I guess the VIN may work in myAudi, but I haven't setup a second login yet!

Thanks,

Geoff

Yep different logins - I've had a myAudi account for a couple of years, you can set up all sorts using this. As far as I know, yourAudi is relatively new and used for order tracking( happy to be corrected).
You will need the VIN for my Audi.
I have the connect app but never used it.

Do you think it needs it? As some of the guys know, the exhaust was a big concern before purchase. YouTube videos, for whatever reason, just didn't seem to capture it in the reviews.

But living with mine now for a month, it's a lot louder than the B8.5 and the character between comfort and dynamic is great. I have the exhaust set to loud in individual anyway and the little pops and bangs are there (like dynamic). Does everybody think having them opened permanently would be too much if you were in comfort or efficiency ? Just curious...

Had a day test drive so thought I'd go ahead and throw a GoPro on the back to hear the exhaust a bit better.

Really enjoyed having the car, hope to get mine ordered later this year.

I was actually very surprised at how well the GoPro managed to pick up the pops and burbles. Really good sounding stock exhaust I think!

Something a tiny bit louder wouldn't go amiss, a resonated Miltek or something would be ideal!

I'm happy with mine as it is. Dynamic is great but it's nice to turn it down when munching the miles on a motorway.

Remus do some great systems. Refined. I'm going to ask them at NEC Autosport show Saturday if anything is in the pipeline for it. But you're right, for a stock exhaust it's really playful. The RS4 is gonna be something...

I agree, it's nice for the fun stuff but I also like gliding along and since you have quite a lot of options regarding when you have the valves open, it does seem like a reduction in choice to have them open all the time. You want to drive in economy mode with a dynamic exhaust? Seems a bit counter-intuitive to me :)
