Ordered... S4 Avant

Quick question, does the S4 have a heated front windscreen theses days?

Also just found out there's a 2% price increase on orders after the 10th Jan

No heated windscreen. My mates 2007 Ford ST220 has one!

Wife's fiesta and previous old focus had it. Thought the ford pattern was up now and could've swore I read somewhere that it was an option on the new A4.

Pick up next Thursday .

s4 avant

Loads more ......get the list and photos when I collect

All That said......Absolutely gutted my pride and joy is going to another home

Dealer told me today

Part of the reason why I ordered my S4 in October was I expected a price rise in the new year. It was inevitable with the currency movement and the first year tax after April will add another £500 to the price! I thought I'd get one ordered while I could still afford one!

It was in the first early brochures but its been dropped now. The ford system has wire heating elements within the windscreen where as the vag version has a special membrane between the laminates of glass..

I'm inclined to agree. But...the B9 is going to be a return to greatness. If it's the new Porsche 2.9 bi turbo it's gonna be blistering.

Whiling away a bit more of the time on "status 20" I was having a look at the B9 S4s that are listed on the Audi Used car site. Presumably all are dealer demonstrators, as they are all listed as not available until they are circa 3 months old - i.e. Feb/Mar. A few points of interest
  • Earliest reg is 29/11/16.
  • All have virtual cockpit
  • One of the six has *standard wheels* - which look less than great. Looks like the 18" tyres are Pirellis, 19s are Hankooks
  • All are specced with one of the varieties of heated/folding/dimming mirrors
  • All are specced with privacy glass
  • All are specced with red callipers
  • Almost all have light & vision pack
  • Almost all have B&O sound
  • Almost all have flat bottomed steering wheel
  • A few less common options crop up on one or two cars - i.e. traffic sign recognition, phone box, dynamic steering, sports diff.

The prices are fairly random - from one car at £39995, against an £50745 ROTR price, so looks like 20% off, up to another at £50795, which is actually above the £49500 ROTR price

Interstingly few I have seen on dealer orders have the sports diff or active suspension

Yay, order status 60 today, and sold my BMW yesterday, so I won't be waiting to March after all!

Knew it Wonder who's going to be first to see another B9 S4 on the road whilst in their own. I only ever seen two B8.5s whilst in mine. In 3 years! Seen more RS4s oddly enough.

Haven't seen any other B9 S4 either. Have seen many B9 A4 glancing at mine though.

Well I'll be blasting around Warwickshire in a Navarra Blue Avant on Saturday morning!
Got my dealers demo car to myself for 4 hours, not sure what toys it's got yet.

Ha. Yeah...that's happening more than in my B8.5. B9 S4 is more of an impact now.

Got the call today, car arrived at dealers! Popped in to take a look, still in wrappings and awaiting prep. Will try and get payment sorted tomorrow and aiming to collect next Tuesday.

I was hoping to put a personalized reg on it, but hadn't realized that it takes two weeks for the certificate to arrive, so I guess I'll have to take the reg it comes with and swap it over in a few weeks.

Saw a blue S4 being prepped in the workshop, so someone else is a little ahead of me!

Certainly looking forward to it, it's a much more exciting car than the X3 2.0d, which although very comfortable and capable, and trouble free, was a bit dull and unattractive! Being a tech freak, I'm sure I'll spend much of my spare time over the next few months fiddling with the various bits of high technology. I might even have to find some places to drive it to...

Make sure it's another tab in the same window Chimp. Not another window.

That's good to know, thanks. I ordered the plate late last night, so perhaps the certificate may arrive mid next week?

you're making me more impatient. Must wait until Thursday.... must wait....

I've delayed the collection until next Saturday, to give the personal reg certificate time to arrive. The sales guy was away training all week and was keen to hand over the car himself, and I wanted to avoid registering it with one number and then transferring to the new one a few days later. If the certificate takes more than a week, I'll be kicking myself for being so indecisive...

So you should have your car before me!

They've unwrapped mine and taken of the V6T badges I asked to be removed, but it was gloomy and raining, so I got nothing more than a cursory look and a few dark photos!

The daytona grey looked lovely in the twilight.

Talking about being indecisive, I ordered the alloy 19" wheels as I'm not too keen on painted or diamond cut wheels, but they have an S5 coupe in the showroom with the most expensive 19" titanium diamond cut wheels and they look lovely clean and polished. I was most impressed with the profile of the sidewall on the tire, which was considerably wider than the rim of the wheel, and not just the usual ridge sticking out, the entire sidewall was about 5mm wider than the wheel rim. They were Goodyear tyres, not Hankooks like my S4 Avant, which I guess is perhaps down the the fact it is an S5 coupe?

I tried to get them swapped over with mine, but for some reason they refused!

Woah. Don't know if it's just the angle but that looks aggressive! Took a while but it's grown on me a great deal this new one.

Can't wait to see more Daytona pics! Keep them coming.
Will be crunching numbers with the dealer tomorow to see if I can sneak an
order in before the price increase on the 10th!

Think I prefer the expensive S4 wheels, noticed the tyres on the B9 are only 245 wide, 255 on my B8.5

My ride for today - has the following options:-
Memory seats
Light & vision
FB steering wheel
Carbon inlays
B&O sound
Hill hold

Tyres are Vredestein Giugiaro which is odd as I was expecting Hankooks.

Google tells me they are a Dutch premium tyre manufacturer, never heard of them and never had them on my previous Audis.

I had the B9 S5 on order... one night getting my 6 year old out of the back of my B8 when asleep I banged his head and realised I just couldn't stay in a coupe the next 4 years.. so changed my order the next day to the S4 Wagon... I do think the new 5 is a thing of beauty, the pics on reviews haven't done it justice.. grows on me every time I see it. Daytona still best colour option too with the current wheel options and no black pack available..

Well after a 3 hour test drive and then a further 1.5 hours of negotiations ....I've push the button and ordered!
So it's time to stop hijacking this thread and start my own.
