What have you done today?

Not today but had really bad misfiring so fitted new plugs (BKR7E gapped 0.7) which fixed it. Evap delete. New Bosch MAF and general tidy up.

Today fitted AP coilovers which I sourced from ASN site sponsor DPM. Can't comment on handling as I haven't done the rears yet but I'm sure they will be an improvement over my 120k 16 yr old suspension!

picked up these babies today, i have been looking for a facelift double din cage for a while and it has eluded me until today, the screwing mounts at the rear are broken off but im sure i can improvise a macguyver move there. now all i need is an s3 battery cover and washer bottle.

Double din

my plan is to use the original hazard and demister swithgear and climate control from my car and hopefully it will come out like this

I stuck a Red one in my Blue 8L... sadly it meant I was at the Audi dealership, even more sadly I was there after they'd fixed the car...
Lol, I was at the dealership also, it was free, along with an Audi flask and an Audi LED ciggy lighter torch! Happy to say I wasn't there for any repairs. I was attending an Audi sponsored RS day, courtesy of ASN! :racer:

this week

the bad

Replaced the engine speed sensor after the car didnt want to start 2nd sensor in 2 years, a day later one of the dogbone mounting bolts fell out seems like the thread in the gearbox is worn, fitted a new bolt with some thread locker, hopefully it holds.

the good

picked up a set of s3 side skirts, door blades and inner sills for 21 Pounds (i am aware they will need some modifying to fit), and some facelift sunvisors for 17 pounds

Finally fitted the AEM meth kit that has been sitting in my garage for 6 months!Photo 1 Photo 2

Yes:grimacing: prefer the sliding facelift sunvisors over the old ones with the little door you have to lift, surprisingly the new sunvisors are slightly shorter than the older ones

Not strictly today, more of a bank holiday summary but finished most of the post edits on pics today so sorta counts :)

The S3 showed her age on the way to Bill's Monday... less than a mile from the unit and the coolant level alarm sounded and I watched the coolant temp rise to well over 100 degrees!!..

Limped it to the unit and found this...
IMAG2001

So I left her there on the naughty step and went racing with Bill and Mark at combe :)

After we dropped the car back at the unit I stayed on and replaced the pump... all good again so gave her a 'sprited' drive home :D

Then as I had the Tuesday off as well I faffed with my camera (as is the way these days)

Finally found time to fit the AP Racing 4 pots, Badger 5 adaptors, HEL brake lines and DS2500 pads that I've had in my garage for months.

NIGHT and DAY compared to standard S3 calipers. Amazing!

How many nozzles came with that kit and where exactly did you install them?

Cheers
The kit comes with 3 nozzles - I fitted the medium nozzle. I welded a boss in to the intercooler pipework when it was fabricated, about 6 inches after the outlet of the intercooler.

I'll post some pics up on my main thread (which has been neglected for a while, I know!)

+1.
I have temporarily used some twist pins to hold it up for rego (they look like min disco lights). Its getting checked Monday.

How long did it take you to get the headlining out?

I have been quoted $475 for the shop to do it all or $250 if I pull it out myself and reinstall after they reline it.

are you from Oz too Pete? i paid $170 - removed and installed DIY. i also DIY'd the removal of the old fabric & foam which is the trimmer's worst nightmare.
trimmer just did the cut and paste bobbie of the new fabric ;) then i asked for extra fabric so i could do the pillars myself as they're simple to do

i'd done it before without a sunroof. super easy. this time WITH sunroof was a little harder but nothing too difficult. hardest part is getting the back middle section of the roof trim back in properly. should only take 1.5 hours or 2 for removing/installing. quicker once you know what's going on

PM me if you have more questions :)

Not strictly today but removed this

Decatted my TDI quattro. Well bashed all the cat out and refitted it with new bolts and clamps as they were rotten.

Going to remove the rest of the system next week and weld in straight pipes

FAIL!!!

+ no spring

DOUBLE FAIL!!!

Well, nothing much to report on my S3. It's in the workshop hunting for leaks on the exhaust side, it turns out my EGT is fubard, and dangling! lol The joys of buying a 2nd hand S3 is a truly daunting experience compared to the mint one I owned for 14 years! so I feel your pain, for those who have had never ending problems to sort out!

recently did some man baking

Ring

then some dessert...

Picked up some facelift s3 vents for cheap, the only issue is the driver side one was damaged by the guy working at the breakers so we took one out of an a3 that was there but the colour is not an exact match (the a3 one seems more greyish than black), hardly noticeable though

12v jack for the boot finally arrived, and i need to install the (chinese sourced) front left abs sensor that will hopefully resolve my abs light issue and also i must find a place to install the usb aux port.

and my reverse cam does not seem to be working

bummer :pensive:

Did some more man baking, ****** the clutch house and dropped in the new bearing races.
Working on LSD preload next....

Replaced oem wiper arms and blades with aero mk4 ones

Received my catch can today so decided to fit that. Took out fuse box and boost sensor that was inside it and moved into trunking underneath airbox. Then fitted catch can in its place. Not a lot of room to work with, not 100% happy but it's in and I had enough by the end of it for today...

wired up wrong?

wired correctly, it gets power when i put the car in reverse (the leds on the camera light up and the headunit also automatically switches to reverse cam mode but its not showing any picture.

i know on my HU there's a setting to change the camera option from +ve to -ve feed?
