@jdp1962 - Thanks JeffIt says Android, so it's no good for iOS. Let me see if I can find a link for the one I got, which works a good 'un.
@jdp1962 - Thanks Jeff. Appreciated@Bristle Hound. Col, if you want to hook up an iOS device with Carista, use this dongle.
Yes, be carefull, you can do some damage with it. I activated alarm beep and rear lights on with DRL (this should be standard setting IMHO) and rip CD's so far.
I actually have most features on as standard, there are a couple of things i want to try though.
Use the Carista app to enable the "service" menu and enable CD ripping in the "service" menu. How do you enable rip CD's? Is it hidden menu or Carista setting?
How did you activate oil temp? I couldn't find that option anywhere.Great app this. So far i have done the following:
Green Menu
Tail lights as DRL
Beep on Alarm
Lap timer
Oil Temp
Footwell lights change on dash - saved but didnt do anything??
has anyone got any info on the battery meter enable. I followed instructions on websites but coundt get it to work my car is a s4 b8.5 with mmi and nav

I think lap timer is only available for cars 2010+How did you activate oil temp? I couldn't find that option anywhere.
And can the lap timer be done through Carista, or is that a VCDS-only mod?Oil temp is part of the lap timer update. Once you've enable the lap timer, oil temp is shown when you switch the DIS to Lap Timer mode (Double Click Reset button to switch modes)
Cheers, Locoblade.Regarding oil temp, I might be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that it didn't work on MMI 3G+ cars for some reason
Should be alright for me then as I don't have MMI 3G+Regarding oil temp, I might be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that it didn't work on MMI 3G+ cars for some reason
You don't need to start the engine; ignition on should be enough.Evening all, do you plug in the adapter and start the app with the engine running?
I have MMI 3G+ and I get oil temp along with the lap timer, it always says 98 degrees mind you, never changes lol. It was standard on mine anyway, didn't have to enable it.Regarding oil temp, I might be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that it didn't work on MMI 3G+ cars for some reason
On petrol vehicles that have coils its always worth not sitting for long periods with just ignition on.You don't need to start the engine; ignition on should be enough.
I believe this is normal, and i have had it on other cars too. I think it happens as the car cycles through each of the modules. You normally hear some interference/low tone from the speakers too at one point. When putting the wifi ELM (as I use Apple iOS) in the OBD port and it does its thing with the Carista app, there seems to be a lot of clicking / whirring noises coming from under the bonnet
The ignition was on but engine off. Doors and bonnet shut too & I was in my garage with the doors shut
Is this normal?
My S4 like my previous B8 A4 does make some noise when you open close the doors/bonnet/boot but not the the extent when the ELM is plugged in
Just making sure before I proceed any further
