ive been toying with the idea of starting a build thread since joining and now seems like the right time to start.

I bought the car over 3 years ago and have been through many changes with it so far.the real fun begins now!

Heres some pics of when i first got it

I'm trying to upload more pictures but it's not happening, but to try to sum it up,I have the bases of a 200-220hp ve engined AFN tdi,I just need to find time to fit it all and have one or two pieces made up for me.i got a gt2052v turbo,a large fmic and currently awaiting new .240 nozzles to upgrade my .216s.

Things done so far (may not be to everyone's taste but I like them)
Short shifter (mainly because of the slop that was in the standard 1)
'Ebay' strut brace does nothing but looks good :)
.216 injector nozzles and IQ adjusted accordingly, slight haze on WOT.

I'm hoping this thread will give me the incentive to get more done!all critisim and feedback welcome cheers guys

Ok so there's more picture I just can't upload, im hoping to make a start on the fmic soon and to get the adaptor plates made for the gt2052v the last picture is how it stands today,a little tall at the back for NCT (mot) purposes but that will come down a little soon :)

whats involved fitting the gt2052v?
Ive got the same engine in my quattro and have the 130bhp turbo and inlet to fit. also have a set of 0.216 nozzles to go on.
mines has been chipped by more-bhp.com so its currently running with 145bhp and 300nm or torque so hoping my extra bits should liven her up a bit

The turbo I'm using is from a volvo d5 so the manifold side has three bolts and an oval inlet so I'm hoping to clock the the turbo to suit and get an adapter plate made up allowing the plate to be bolted to the manifold and the turbo to be bolted to the plate, from what I can see the oil feed and return are the same on the vnt15 as the the gt2052.its the same size turbo used on the 2.5tdi a4-a6s (vnt20) but just with a different flange and the compressor outlet is facing a different way.

The .216s by themselves make a huge difference,so with the chip I can only imagine the difference.have you had any problems with your clutch slipping?

not yet but the bite is high so im surprised ive not had any problems. even when its been used for towing its not had any clutch slip.
Ive got a new sachs clutch and dual mass flywheel sitting in the garage to be fitted so first sign of any clutch slip and it will get done.

Not so good now with the doiley mat wheels and club euro windscreen sticker , less is more .

did you adjust you're IQ with the hammer mod or can it be done with vcds?
It's adjusted with vcds think its sitting about 3.2mgs on idle wouldn't allow me any lower so i think I'll give it the hammer mod once the .240s and turbo go in,or maybe leave it till its chipped and see how it stands smoke wise

Ive been getting some stick over the sticker but the wheels get a lot of attention and all positive until now, there's a lot less clutter around the car now then when I first got it,the 'laaaad' who had it before had it covered with pointless stickers and headlight tint on the fogs

yea with mine being chipped ill need to see how much smoke I get once there changed.
it went through this years emissions spot on the boy says it was the lowest emission diesel hes had in for a while.

Smoke test, not emissions, what was your Opacity best and mean values and at what engine temperature ?

Fair play dunno why but my smoke test can back as 0.00 for my last NCT the must not have checked it right, sometimes I don't think they care :/
Is that the Sachs sre clutch i here people going one about?also you wouldn't happen to know any ahh a4s or passats breaking?the injection pump is 11mm in comparison to our 10mm you need to change a few bits over but some good gains can be had with the 11mm pump, with yours being quattro you'd have a lift pump too so that's one less thing to worry about.

just checked my test it was 0.03
it says engine temp wasnt recorded but it had just been driven for about 30 miles so it was up to normal running temp

( I still use the mot station ive used for years even though ive moved hence the 30 mile drive. )

That's pretty much none existent!

Get the .216s in and adjust the IQ then buy the sticker :)

I need to get it stopping first :(
once the brakes get done this weekend plan is to start sorting out under the bonnet. I've got the service kit there so it will get a full service and the nozzles fitted at the same time.

next month will be timing belt time so it will get the pd130 inlet, turbo and decat fitted then. :)

Nice one mate, let me know how the nozzles go for you! Quick tip to save bleeding the injectors fit two then start it then fit the other two, worked for me on my own and my brother alh caddy (upgraded to my .205s)

yea defo worth a bash. was planning on doing the fuel filter at the same time so would be filling that with diesel but yea like you're thinking.

did you get you're injectors pressure tested?

I was going too but couldn't find anyone local and with it being my daily I couldn't afford any down time,I have a set of injector bodies lying around now though so when I get the .240s I might look into it again.

Im waiting on my brothers mate coming back from holiday as he runs a diesel specialists local to me and I have an other set of injectors there from a car I broke so makes sense to get it done.

Nice one,ive no idea mate the came from a guy on eBay with a seller name 'Phil trade' theres no denying they made a difference but I wouldn't trust them either, hence changing to Dssr

yea I saw a fair few nozzles advertised and wasn't keen on fitting any I had never heard off before.
I was looking at a set of Bosch nozzles on ebay that were £100 when my mate piped up that he had a set lying in the kitchen drawer still sealed...
he owed me £50 for bits that I had bought for his focus so I tried my luck and asked if they were mine for payment for the focus bits..
so he agreed to that as he said they were no use to him

Yeah I think dsla150p764 were printed on the side of my nozzles,to be honest it's not that they've let me down but I just don't think they're working to the best of there ability.

Things are kinda going a bit slower than I would like but wedding priorities are a must!

Kevin where did you get you're rear back plates? are they dealer only? looking for some for my dads fwd avant

Yeah mate got them from the dealer, part numbers are V8D0615611 and V8D615612
Worked out at €70.12 though :(

was that each? my local dealer is telling us £46 odds each..
was up the breakers today though and found one in good nick lying beside an A4 so that's one sorted..

No mate that was for both of them, still seems a bit excessive for a piece of pressed tin!

hmm starting to wonder if my old man has picked them up wrong.. he said it was £46 odds before vat each..

but yea as you say... still dear for a bit off pressed tin..

im glad I have 2 sets for the quattro...

I'd expect them to be £46 the pair + the vat especially considering the strong sterling vs weak euro
