Jackos Bluey Mk2.. Build/progress Thread.. Pic Heavy!

Cheers I was looking at the black xenonz

Fits well mate, colours good and half the price of the genuine 1 you can't fault it... The only thing I would suggest is to bond the plate holder mounts onto the back of the grille before installing it to the car... That way you can easily remove the plate when you want, without having to take the bumper off again or the mounts falling out the bottom

Shame they dont do one for the pre face lift ;/

Haha yeah anno man.. I had to make mine..

OK by bond do you mean glue or weld?

Its like a rubber adhesive I used.. Sikaflex 225 its called.. Its like a silicone based rubber, they use it to build caravans haha... Real sticky stuff but its great for doing anything like that..

2 tips tho.. Wipe off any excess and dont get any on your hands.. Takes about a week of scrubbing to get it off haha... Found that out the hard way

Nice picture, poor quality

Haha... I've just noticed this comment Mr B.. I thought they were pretty good considering they were done on an iphone... Wasn't really a photoshoot, it was a day out on a run and stopped to take a cpl of snaps... ;)

I'll get an update on this soon... Loads have been done and changed since my last update... Winter mode as I call it... Takes me all my time to upload pics and update as the browser on my pc is really slow with asn... Maybe try google chrome and see how that works out... Anyway watch this space and i'll update the thread in the next few days...

so I wonder what the front end would look like if you sprayed the mesh on the fog surrounds the same color as the grill

I'm not sure if that would work.. Front end looks completely different from that now though... Need to get a few pics on

Ok update time, been a while and a fair few things have been done...

So anyway, as you've seen previously throughout the thread, i'm a fan of the RS3 style grill and got the Xenonz grill.. I tried and tried and tried to make it look right and half decent.. Studied the grills more than I would like the admit so anyway here was my findings...

I discovered that the xenonz grill honeycomb centre sat at a different angle from the OEM version and indeed there was a lot more honeycomb sections, the rings and mount were massive compared with OEM and there was also the problem with the grill rubbing slightly on the bonnet... Also found out that there is infact 2 different styles of RS3 grill 1 with a smaller honeycomb centre, but again totally different to the Xenonz aftermarket....

So it was about time I gave my obsessive compulsiveness a break and purchased an oem RS3 grill....

Next on the list was to get rid of the dumbos, i'm not a fan of the dumbos at all and always seen myself getting rid... Purchased MY11's.. In my opnion, these are more aggressive looking than the dumbos, more like the prefacelift but incorporate the indicators...

Also got round to installing my cruise control and took the time to properly code in the rnse 2.... Didnt take any pictures of the cruise installation process unfortunately...

And coded

So basically, this is how it is as now... the weathers cold and sh!t, the wheels are currently for sale as i'm getting new 1's and thats about it for now....

I absolutely love the front end...

And side snap of the wheel

Thanks Josh... Big compliment that 1, but I have to agree, I love the front end of it now... Just trying the find some wheels that really suit the car and tie it all in... Proving more of a challenge than I thought...

That front end looks so much better with the OEM RS3 grill.

Did you sell the wing mirrors?

Cheers Dan... Ended up thinking, if i'm going to do it, i'll do it right...

Yeah mate... I posted them on that S3 sales page with little response, so they sold on ebay on Saturday there..

I'm interested.... I have a rough idea what I want but everyone will hate me haha...

go on.. I'm also interested ha

You 1st... I'm thinking about going boring same old, thats why everyone will hate me... And you know theres only 2 styles of wheels that fall into that category!

1552 tarmacs :hi:

I had to google them there.. They'll be smart on your car defo....

I was thinking bout just going boring CKs...suit the facelift really well and the sprint too... Gr ch masons car is awesome with them.. Just sits so nice for a reason I can't quite put my finger on

Nah i always thought the CK's looked strange, the holes in the spokes are too big and they look strange on a car as fat as the s3.

I honestly do think his are spot on... I dont know though... I'm stumped.. I want a nice set of wheels.. Preferably Alu silver that compliments the car well.. Been right through that rims thread and i'm still stumped..

That's an awesome looking front end Jacko!! Love it!
Dunno what it would look like on a silver one tho?

Thanks dude... I know exactly what you mean... The Blue compliments it very well..

I prefer the new black grill over the previous silver one. not everyone's taste but I like the Cades - Bern wheels look like mk4 gti alloys but nicer.

i also really like the vossen CVT's but you'd have to go lower to pull it off

I agree Keith... I love the front end the way it is... Cades Berns, hmm yeah, they're like the VMRs a bit... The Black looks daft tho with those Tron lines as I call them... Duno i'll wait and see

Vossens have always been a fabourite... Not to keen on the staggered look on the 8Ps tho.. And unfortunately out my budget...

Got these up for sale the now.. I'll wait a month and if they don't sell.. Might be a colour change on the cards.. Satin Graphite or maybe even Alu.. Will need to see at the time.. The back rubs tho and its annoying... Need to get the wheels re-aligned soon.. Maybe go slightly more camber at the back..

Stunning Jack great work all round!!! The OE grill is king! Take your time and get the best wheels that suit yourself mate :)

As long as your happy thats all what counts!

Ok.. Time for an overdue update, so much going on though in such a short space of time...

Where to start? ok... lets start with the standard facelift steering wheel!

Now this is something I always had a bit of a gripe with and spotted straight away with my analytical disease! I always felt the facelift sterring wheel was a bit of a let down over the preface (and this is where it gets ridiculous) I don't like the stitching layout of the facelift steering wheel and it looks and feels rather naff. So sitting in boredom and with the usual ebay browsing tendencies I came across this (Totally unplanned, spur of the moment decision) and bought it.... I could've went for the TTRS steering wheel or the likes, but the main thing was the perforated bits, gives a nice bit of grip over the smooth leather... And the perforated and smooth leather also matches the seats! :) haha...

I'm not sure exactly what model it comes on, but it had an sline badge at the bottom, so i'm assuming an sline A3 or TT? Oem minus downgrade upgrade lol!
So the next stage was to change the badge and I set about that, fairly easy when you take the airbag out

Due to the rest of the thread being red on the car, this was also dyed Red....

Actually put my wheel into a lad I know who is a car upholsterer, to see how much changing the actual thread would cost? so he had a look.. Apparently the leather is glued to the wheel as well as stitched, supposedly would have been a nightmare to change and was quoted £100.... no thankyou! ha so went back to my usual method and looks just as well.

And this was it all fitted and finished....

Looks and feels fantastic imo and i'm well chuffed with it... Also has the nice MY11 airbag with the chrome ring...

Next on the list.. As previously mentioned the OZs were up for sale as I wanted to go back to 18's (just for a comfort thing more than anything) well the oz's sold to a nice bloke with a mk7 gti, so now the hunt was on for a replacement set of wheels.. In the meantime I was running about on these badboys! (Just standard facelifts in Black)

For some strange reason, I actually quite liked it, or was more content with it anyway, so there was no rush for a new set of wheels with it still being winter and all... I wanted to have a look about but also wanted something a bit tried and tested, so I could just jump in the car and enjoy it comfortably.. something i've not really been able to do, since i've been working on it so much. Wanted a set that I hadn't had before and also was going to last at least a few months :) haha

Didn't last very long tho, was offered a set of Speedline Turinis and went for them... I got them off a mate and they were Black.. I was looking to go back to standard silver, so they were picked up and then dropped off at the furbers straight away and this was the result...

Also went for the Speedline corse wheel caps as they had came with Black Audi caps on them.. expensive caps tho at £40 a set, but went for the Silver and Blue and looked quite nice, so needs must!

Next on the list was tyres...Reading most of the forums and opinions on facebook, the Goodyear Eagle F1's always got really good reviews and i'd never had them before, so took the plunge and ordered up a new set of rubber! :)

So basically they are now on the car... 8J ET42, fill the arches well, not exactly bling to look at, well passable tho.. comfortable to run and i'm fairly happy with them....

But before we get to that and you'll get a sneak peak here, I also bought myself a whiteline uprated rear arb... Anyone thats driven the S3 quite vigorously, will be able to tell you the rear end is a bit floaty.. supposidly, the rear arb gives the most bang for buck? not really had a decent chance to test it out as yet, so the jury's still out on that 1, as with the Eagle F1's, but heres a pic of me and a few of the boys around here during our wee modding day, we all had a couple of bits and pieces to do, so thought why not get a mini mod meet haha is that even a thing? well it is now!! Nice and colourful if nothing else...

Well all in all, its been a busy wee time recently and its going to settle down for a wee while due to commitments to other things.. The only outstanding thing thats going to happen over the next month or so, is to service the car and service the haldex as the cars just turned 40K recently....

Anyway, heres a couple of pics of how its sitting just now, i'll get more pics up once I get a better chance to get some.. ;)

Turned out quite nice... Most parts have been changed on it and bits added here and there.. Really should have left the factory like this tho imo... So much better with all the subtle differences and to the untrained eye, looks standard!

I would definitely leave the 4 rings off the front grill tho but that's me :)
