Anyone got any ideas as to what the piston ring gap should be on a 3.2 v6?
Yeah, 2 compression and one oil per piston.
I took the car off the garage this morning, can't wait forever for them to pull thei finger out.
The compreision rings on cylinders 2 3 and 4 are stuck, so fair play to them for diagnosing that correctly I suppose.
Ive removed them all now so I'm gonna clean them up and try and fit the new ones. The garage lent me their tool to fit them, it's like a sleeve that fits over the cylinder and tightens up with a key.
Yep. Sick to ****** death of it lol .
Well ive just just fitted the new rings, i may have spent a little longer than necessary cleaning the grooves on the pistons with a tooth brush I found in the bathroom (turns out it belongs to the missus.)
il will slot the buggers back in tomorrow and whip the gearbox off and crack on with the timing chains.
The longest repair in history continues......
Well upon reinstalling the pistons I have ****** 2 sets of rings and possible a piston as I have gouged the sh*t out of the side of it.
Got the other 4 in ok though . Lol.
Anyone want to buy the b*stard car for spares ?
I did it using the compressor tool and I have tried to force the piston down it into the cylinder. Just inexperience I suppose. I should of stopped as soon as I felt resistance but I thought just a few more taps would do it.
The others went in ok.
I assume the piston is knackered now as it has a deep scratch near the top.?
