Iâve been browsing the photos here, and keep popping on looking for ideas and advice, and thought Iâd join and post a few photos of my pride and joy. I picked this S4 up a little over 2 months ago, the car had stood unloved on an Audi specialist dealer over the winter, so need a bit of TLC (ongoing) to make it look good again.
Having owned lots of other VAG motors previously, Many Golf Gtiâs, A B5 2.8 Quattro saloon, several Toyota MR2s, BMW 328's, an M3 and a Subaru Impreza Sportswagon (that I hated) amongst others, but it was always a dream to own a V8, and as we already have one practical family/dog car (Freelander) in the house, I decided it would be a soft top for summer fun, as well as being my everyday car. Only stipulation from the missus, was that it had to have 4 seats, so it was down to either an E46 M3, or an S4 Cab. I'm glad I chose the S4..... I work local to home, so fuel consumption wasnât really an issue.
My S4 is âwork in progressâ firstly I replaced the standard wheels, with some replica RS4 wheels, (for now) purely as I wanted to update the look, but keep the 18 inch Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres all round, that still had lots of tread on them. I also spent a day degreasing the brake calipers, spray painting them with silver caliper paint, and adding S4 decals. Thats as far as I've got for now, as my wedding is looming, and both cash and time is scarce!
So far, other than a couple of glitches, the cars been superb, love how it drives, looks, and most of all, sounds! as for the glitches, it went in for an oil change and inspection about six weeks ago, and began to leak oil a couple of weeks later, creating a oil burning smell in the cabin, this was diagnosed as cam cover seals, which were duly replaced (so far, so good) whilst being serviced, a suspension arm bush was noticed to be split, which was replaced while in for the oil leak repair, unfortunately the suspension arm was well and truly seized to the suspension leg, so ended up replacing both suspension arm, and leg... cost an arm and a leg too... but as soon as I got it back, and heard that engine again, I couldn't stay mad at it for long.
As for the future, I'll be adding lots of polish, probably a non resonated Milltek cat back, panel filter, and possibly a VIEZU remap, which should make it around 370hp(ish) and a bit more responsive and free-flowing.
