I don't think our engine has one mate... mine too is an AJQ,,,, someone who knows better will no doubt be along soon though and put you straight one way or another

from what i can figure out its the little box with the connector on it thats just above the intake pipe on the picture? and the big box above number 4 coilpack can be removed? i may be wrong though!

what mods do you personaly find work best on our engine? cheers

the little box above the TIP with the electrical connection is the N75 valve which controls boost. You will have an N249 vale else you wouldnt have the vacuum reservoir i.e. the black box thing sitting on top of coil pack #4

there is a black plastic engine cover that sits in front of the inlet manifold, under that is a metal plate. Have you checked if the N249 valve is under that plate?

thanks for the reply. be right back will go check now :)

this?

so would you say its worth me doing? i have read it makes the boost more responsive too? plus im pretty sure i have a leak from it and would rather lose it than pay or new pipes lol

cheers, jamie

i would go with the oil catch can before this as there are far more pipe's under the inlet that cause boost leaks.
i can't comment on throttle response although i have read people do see a difference and some dont there has been no proven gains to what i have seen over removing this the oil catch can helps with keeping crap out of the engine.

yeah, i think thats it, you can see it sitting under that metal plate to the right of the dip stick in the pic. I havent done it personally but i would say that given the number of people who have done and there are no bad reports from it i would say go for it. Its supposed to sharben throttle response as well as reduce the likelyhood of boost leaks. It does remove one method the ECU has of cutting boost when it feels like it, but the ECU has other methods to do this so its redundant anyway....

great thanks alot! i have a catch can at work so thats definatly worth doing!

one last question about the n249 one.. on the picture on the link you gave me. the pink colour pipe, goes from the dv into a tee peice, into the pressure reg, then where does the last part of the pipe go?

sorry for the probably stupid questions!

he has used the line that goes to the fuel pressure regulator (FPR) as his boost/vacuum source, so he has just T'd into it. If you just run a pipe from the inlet manifold (where the N249 valve is currently plumbed in) and run it to the top of your DV then thats it. Remember to leave the N249 plugged in electrically. All the other gubbins can be cut out.
