Wondered where you were mate!?
Ohh mate I have been having a 100% mare believe me.
I've been training the guy who will be on site doing the job I have been covering all last week.
He's picked it up OK, but of course, he appears to have gone home for the weekend and promptly forgotten everything so I have had to rush to Cheltenham this morning to have the day...
I wouldn't mind, but I did write all this down in a ****** checklist and everything IS there! It's just not been followed.... :-/
Anyway, left work Friday avo from here looking forward to getting back on the road this week.
As I said previously, I thought that the TT's water pump had gone.... So I bought a new belt and pump.
After much messing about with it on Friday night, changing and testing thermostats etc, and getting all sorts of funky readings about water temp from the instruments, I decided to do the belt and pump Saturday just to be sure.
Well, it's done, but what an utter bum hole job. S3's belts are tight, but the TT is even tighter. Not to mention that it's a K03 engine and has all the stupid 'Pancake pipe' intercooler pipework in the way. However it gave me a good opportunity to get the pipe work off and give it a good clean out.... A fair bit of oil in there, but that's to be expected in honesty.
It's now had a full service (excluding fuel filter which I MUST do), cam belt and pump. Sweet.
With tthe belt done, new thermostat fitted, and water system filled, I was confident that the problem now wasn't engine side (I know it's not the Coolant Sensor as swapped the S3's over). However, the dash still claims intermittently that tthe water temp is in excess of 121C... which it just isn't. Broke out VAG COM and logged down the road to find out that the water temp is actually 87c (thermostat temp) and that the instruments are just lying. The dash can and will often be at 130c, with tthe REAL temp down at 87c. Annoying... Must be the dash pod really.
Then fitted my new TT 225 Blue Flame full stainless 3" full system I got for it. Purchased from a mate for £150.... Now THATS a steal... lol.
This is the system:
Annoyingly I lost out on a twin exit rear valence on ebay, sso have had to 'Modify' mine for the time being.... It will do for now but needs doing.
Anyway, this is the before and after:
After:
Mating the flange from a 2.5" system to a 3" system was a bit of a biatch.... lol.
Anyway, I now need to extract the dash pod and send the damn thing away to be fixed.....
Yay.
