What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

Yesterday I stuck on the logoed Caliper Clips. Pics just 'cos I can........ :smile new:

View attachment 173533

And a question....... When you get Suspension control arms (front) they always come with these metal clips on the Drop Link mounting points.

View attachment 173534

The question is WHY? I can't see how they can be used as the drop links don't allow for them as they would interfere with the upper bush (the 'sticking up' parts on the R/H pic). Or am I, once again, just being thick? I always just source some standard washers & use them as I don't like tightening bolts down straight onto alloy parts.
Anyone Know???

And hey dave_ph - are you sure the brake & clutch switches are working OK?

I’m almost positive those clips only remain on for shipping and storage. You shouldn’t install anything with them on.

They look like their designed to be used with a Nut held captive by the lugs & a bolt through from the other side. Seems a shame to waste them as they are actually nicely made.
They would work perfectly, if thats what was required, but its not as the drop link has a threaded centre in its top bush so a bolt is all that is required.
One of lifes mysteries I suppose........

Nothing to the old bus so far today but the day is still early, met up with norad97 and had look at his very nice 2.0t special edition.....:icon thumright::icon thumright:
Now upwards on onwards...:superman::superman:

Not done much but the car sure likes the cold weather, I think I've got another 20hp.

That or it just heat soaks like mad in the summer, lol.

Well resolved the Cruise Control issue today. Sure enough was the usual suspect - clutch switch!

Hopefully grabbing a new one tomorrow. Also need to get hold of some radio removal keys to remove the RNS-E so I can take that phone cradle off and change the centre console over to new one I got without the cradle holes in it!

I've worked on my leaking MAP sensor on the Airtec FMIC: been out in massive snowfall do get it done and it took me until nightfall, but now it seals pretty well. Also produced this video on my Youtube channel (do subscribe):

I gave my old bus a good scrub in the fresh weather today, only downside to cleaning the winter grime off your car is seeing where very kind people have hit you! I have a lovely scuff and missing paint on my rear bumper. Today was not a good day!

very similar Alex, just found this in the info, seems valcona was an extra cost option and is an option for the S4 aswell…..turns out to be the most costly leather trim level aswell…...I better look after it in that case.

I’m unsure about my seats... A friend had a very similar A4, almost the same spec as mine but his seat were black and dark grey with the sline logos embossed. Mine are black and very light grey (almost off white) with no logos, also seem to be a more ‘glossy’ finish?

An old picture but I don’t seem to have any recent ones of the interior.

Changed the pcv valve, N80 valve and refitted the lining on the reardoor(after 1,5year off after changing licenceplatelights/griplist).

Hopefully my enginelamp wont come back.

Next item to fix is the camfollower

Bit the bullet this evening (and mainly due to finally managing to get the RNS-E out with some modified Merc radio keys) and replaced the whole centre console purely to get rid of that obnoxious phone cradle.

Probably a bit extreme just to get rid of it but it really annoyed me.

And yeah I know the RNS-E isn't pushed all the way in! I just can't be bothered to mess around getting it out again as I'm going to replace it very soon with an Android Headunit. Unfortunately there appears to be a whole host of info about it so need to continue reading.

If anyone off the top of the head knows the perfect headunit that displays info on the DIS, works with steering wheel controls, has DAB and works with the non bose amplified rear speakers and sub...let me know!

I fitted a pioneer HU , does all I need and has all the normal functions (BT/DAB/SAT / , CD plays all formats etc ) works very well works via steering wheel , only thing it wont do is show all info on DIS , shows some but not all, not fussed either as I can see it all on the 7" screen anyway.

As far as perfect, I don't think there is such a thing really , everyone has their own preferences and idea on what a perfect unit is.

I think you'll find the only way you will get full DIS integration is if you fit an oem unit as they will require coding it for full function , aftermarket don't need the coding process and very few if any will give full oem level of DIS info.
If you find one that does everything and gives full DIS (oem) level of display info , please let us know....

I like the feature list of your pioneer and being a reputable brand you know it will work fine, the main reason I’ve been looking at android units though is because they fit with no face adapters and look more OEM.

Kenwood do one to fit the VW’s and transporters but not A4 unfortunately. Bad kenwood

Took some pics of the old bus with its new front suspension - I think maybe its a bit too low (catches anything on the road bigger than a fag packet....).
Opinions? Should I go back up 1/2 an inch?

Cheers Rob - I'll run it a few weeks & see how it goes........ One major problem is I have to drive over a lot of sleeping policemen where I go so have to do it REALLY carefully...... :sadlike:

Same around here, way too many speed bumps etc, I just take them at a different angle now and it works well....

I'm very impressed with your ride height chap, even tempted now to swap my super Bilstein b8 setup and go to Bilstein coilovers…..not sure I want to lash out on adjustable arms though....i'll see.

have a good one.

Replaced rear window washer jet, was only getting a small amount of screenwash on the window before, much better now.

A while ago I changed the Audi Q5 rear wiper blade for a cheaper Valeo one and it is silent compared to the juddery one I had before :icon thumright:

Pretty good, don't notice it when its on now where as before it was juddery and squeaky unless it was lashing down with rain. Don't know how much you can make out from the pic below...

Finally got my Bilstein B12 Sportline kit delivered from Germany.

Have to go back to work on Monday for 6 or 7 weeks so they'll go on when I'm back.

Looks good chap... I had exactly the same problem, I lived with it for a year and nearly lost my splitter on a few occasions!
We have way too many speed bumps too so I gave up and raised it up a bit.

thanks chap, I wasn't sure i'd like them to be honest, I'm not keen on the chrome ones so decided to take a chance with genuine oem ally finish covers....and I do like them.
Haven't fitted them yet but may do later today, I purchased the ones from petetheprop.

I already have the powerfolding option alex…..but fancied some extra colour co-ordination on the old bus.

I cracked on with my power fold mirror retrofit this morning and ordered a few bits, had some disappointment from TPS and pulled the door cards off to check some part numbers. Then finished off by giving the old bus a quick spruce up.

Cheers Rob, im in two minds regarding the rs4 grille, i quite like mine and the s4 ones as everyone goes for the rs look. The wheels also desperately need refurbing, the powdercoating is coming off at an alarming rate!

Yep, all personal choice Alex.
The thing I find with the RS4 grilles is that they look a lot less bulky , the mesh is much more easy on the eye if you get my drift...….
