for days i noticed a smell for a few seconds when i opened the bootlid on my a5 convertible.
i lifted the carpet, nothing where the spare wheel go's......removed the wheel....bone dry.
then i opened the compartment on drivers side......where the fuse boxes are and a big fat wiring loom.........the loom was wet, however the actual fuses and electrical items are dry,no sign of water on top of themi discovered some water sitting there,so i removed the rubber bung/grommet......water ran out,and i got a chamois and dried it.

check the other side....wet but no water there, but it feels wet and still damp.
i pouted water onto the rear lights .....nothing going in,tried both sides.
and around the bootlid with the boot open.....around the hinges/boot seal i mean.....nothing,any ideas?

PASSENGER SIDE...........

WATERS SITTING HERE BELOW,WHERE THE YELLOW WAX IS..........GROMMET HAS BEEN REMOVED.

The boot vent looks wet on that pic.Is it sealing back up properly ?
Did you use a pressure washer to check for leaks ?

thats me that is i sprayed the big fAt wiring loom and al around with wd40..........how can i check if its sealing back up? how do these work any ideas?

Oh OK.
They spring back into place I iirc

I would not use WD40 as after a while it attracts moisture, it's only fish oil afterall so will break down.
Use a silicon grease spray for permanent protection.
