I'm just about to sell my 2001 A4 1.8t to a mate and the heater is blowing out cold air. The engine gets up to the correct tempreture but no heat. Any ideas?

I take it you have checked all your Fluid levels to start off?

No signs of Head gasket failure - Saying that, I think you would have known to it if it was mate.

Could be fault with the Climate control..

levels are ok, every now and again I have been topping it up but nothing major. It did this a few weeks ago then it started working fine.

Sounds Like it could be a faulty Control Unit. If its happened before then it can only get worse. Best Bet is take it to your Audi Specialist and ask them to run a test on it. Could be a simple prob.

Best not sell it to your mate without it being checked out even if it started working again because you can imagine him ringing you up, You wouldnt hear the last of it, trust me, Ive been there mate.

He doesn't know yet but I'm going to get it fixed first. It's just my luck!!!

Are the control units expensive?

when ya engines at normal tempreature take cap off of expansion bottle and see if the water is hot,if not let me know.
on the other hand if it is it maybe the thermostat, best change that first

I will check that however it is going in to a trusty garage tomorrow to have the
switch for the reversing lights changed. I'm hoping they will sort it at the same time.

I will keep you posted. Thanks for your help!

Merry Christmas

I've been told today that it could be the water pump as the early ones had a plastic fan to draw the water?????
Does anyone know if this is correct? Would the water pump stop the heater sending warm air around the car?
Cheers
