I'm looking at getting a trolley jack and a couple of axle stands.

Where's the best / safest jacking point of the car if I want to both front wheels or both rear wheels off the deck?

Any advice on ones to buy? I assume a 2 tonne jack would suffice?

Caliper paint bought ready to go!

Have a look at the FAQ section and I've covered jacking points in my write-up.

FAQ – Jacking Points

Where are the jacking points on my car?
Is it safe to use just the supplied scissor jack to work under the car?
Where should a trolley jack support the car?
Can I get a rubber "puck" to use with a trolley jack?

As far as trolley jacks are concerned I got a 1.25ton "racing" model from Machine Mart

It does a great job.

I'm sure the car weights more than 1.25 tonne .

Arcan for me .

You'll never be lifting the entire weight of the car on one jack. Even if you were lifting the heavier end - way less than a tonne - the weight would be divided over a pair of jacks.

I'm hanging my head in shame................... was looking at an RAC one at £29.99
I suppose it may not be "low profile" enough for the car height?
The ones mentioned above do look like decent bits of kit too.
