Transfer Private Plate without V5 Logbook?

Anyone know If I can transfer a private numberplate onto my car without a V5?

I bought my A3 a couple weeks ago and the new logbook has yet to arrive! (how long dies it normally take?)

Got my lookbook within a couple of weeks, but I know someone who bought their car 4 months ago and still havent recieved their V5.

He called up and complained, they sent one out straight away free of charge... said it was pretty easy to get them to send one out so give it a try.

ive had mine come out within a week other times 2mths.just phone them up mate and they will get a shift on
