    Hello folks,

Been searching threads and can't really find similar issue so hopefully someone is able to help. This being my first post I hope it's in the right space :)

OK, so here's my cry for help - super weird noise is coming from ( what seems to be ) far side front wheel. Normally happens at really low speed, seems to disappear above 10-15 mph. Happens both in reverse and drive, different turn angles doesn't really affect it. Steering wheel doesn't wobble or behave weirdly at speed or at braking, car drives as it should except for the annoying noise. Noise happens irrespective of brake pedal position.

Really would like some opinions and advice on what that could be before I shell out for Audi to advise me. Not a lot of love for local dealership :p

    Car is Audi A3 8V ( pre-facelift ) 2014 with Auto 1.8 (T)FSI Quattro at around 60k miles.

    Ideas for far
    1) Stone or foreign object stuck between the plate and disc
    2) Brake pads / disc is warped / worn
    3) CV Joint ( unlikely due to only appearing at low speed )

    Thanks!

My noise from that area was a slapping scraping noise and it turned out to be the brake dust cover bolt that got corroded and came off and was scraping, but I heard mine at 20mph - 30mph as well.

If it’s the chatter noise - agreed as also does it when stationary.

Is the noise there when in neutral if you rev the engine a little?

Sounds like the chatter that you hear coming from a tree or bush in Greece. The tree cricket, you got one of them little guys in there?

Def sounds like something loose to me, rather than scraping, triggered by vibration from the engine.

I have just had to replace both front disc backing plates as they had corroded and were rattling about, one had 2 broken fixings the other just the 1, replacement backing plates were circa £40-50 from Audi and half an hour job a side to fit, caliper / carrier and disc off job.

I don’t think it’s brake related as the sound seems to exist prior to rolling. You have warranty left on the vehicle?

The vibrations from the running engine will be enough to make the disc backing plate vibrate
