Sorry everyone I sold my lovely B6 S4 because I had too see - http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=102403 bought what I thought was a decent dealership A4 Avant 2.0T FSI s-line SE avant today but when I got it home it sounds like a bag of $hite and nobody on the B7 forum seems to be able to help
Basically there is a heavy knock from the rear of the cylinder head very much like the old Ford tappet rattle, the engine sounds like a diesel, any known problems in this area? any ideas what it could be sounds like a tensioner problem of some sort. Taking it back tomorrow but any info would be greatly appreciated
