So I'm in need of a turbo as I have a crack in manifold and it's coming off it might as well be changed!
Has anyone fitted or know if the cr 170 turbo is worth fitting or standard bv3?

Thinking of this one ...

What car do you have mate? What power do you fancy and what mods do you have already lol?

2.0tdi 170 bhp dpf delete and egr delete and remapped by Rick at unicorn

I have that turbo of a friend many years ago garret gtc1549vz wondered if the turbo char would fit into the pd170 turbo housing as from what I've read the a billet compressor wheel???

X man do a hybrid for ours fresh out of the bag. Depending if you want to hunt for abit more power gtb2260 seems a popular choice. If your going to have to adapt to fit a turbo you may aswell have the potential to go to a higher Hp in the future.

Not sure about fitting our housing to that other turbo. Might be worth a go if you already have it!

I thought that but when I spoke to darkside they said I wouldn't notice on the road between a gtb1756 and a 2260. Think a fmic and a new clutch you could get 240-260 if the exhaust allows the £££ start going up though I bet

It's big difference between the gtb2260 and gtb1756, I drove them both and I know ! I have tuned a pd170 a3 Quattro a few months ago and the 2056vk I have fitted broke the haldex diff in no time. The fWD stands no chance with all the torque a gtb1756/2056vk produces...

correct me if I'm wrong but the a3 Quattro system is electronic and isn't a proper 50/50 split as the a4 Quattro system which isn't controlled by the crazy Haldex system most vag cars have? Permanent 4wd system in the a4?
Turbo wise who done the turbo for you and who mapped it?
What turbo would you recommend any input on that turbo in thread from x mans turbos?

No ones fitted that X man yet they said it has like a months warranty on it I recon you could haggle them down being the guinie pig!
And as for the laggy bit I'm just going from what darkside told me but if you've driven both you know more than me!
I was abit sceptical when he said I wouldn't notice because looking at the dyno printouts of other cars you can tell when the power and torque comes in and 2260's do look pretty late! Il just wait in till my stock blows and hopefully that won't be anytime soon!

This was their shopping list for me lol I'm happy with a stage one map for now though

'Hi James,

Tbh we wouldn't advise running more than a remap on the stock clutch. 200-205bhp is around the maximum the stock turbo will do pushed quite hard but some companies do claim a bit more.

On the road the spool difference is barley noticeable between the 2056 and 2260. The 1756 is also limited to around 230bhp so personally I would be going for the 2260.

This can be fitted to your stock manifold using an adapter plate. Some parts will have to be custom.

I think what they said is there was little difference between a 2056 and a 2260 not a 1756 and a 2260.
They are right the 2056 and 2260 would definitely be more laggy, The 2260 is the standard turbo in my 3.0 TDI and will make 300 bhp with the right supporting mods in a 2.0l car.
You need to decide what you want and how much you want to spend. They are right the standard clutch is pretty much always an issue after stage 1 and needs changing.
If you only want 225-230 bhp then a hybrid and Sachs SRE clutch along with DPF delete will give you a reliable quick every day car.

Yeah miss read that back my bad. Yeah I recon 230 ish is nice for a daily road beast. Is yours Quattro Darren? Anything more with 2wd might be a tyre shredder! What ever you decide make sure it's a pic heavy thread ;)
