Shock absorber leak adaptive

just had a service from an independent and they advised rear shock is leaking. Will be taking to Audi soon as I have extended warranty so hopefully it is covered as they are adaptive so not going to be cheap. I did speak to Audi warranty and they said shocks are covered as long as it’s not down to wear and tear.
The car is a 65 plate with just short of 38k, think this is far too early for a shock to start to faiL, what do you think?

I know I haven’t had the car inspected yet and may be worrying about nothing but well over a grand already with service, new tyres all round and new brakes and disks on the rear.

I wouldn’t say a 65 plate should have shock issues due to wear and tear. Mines a 63 plate ( non adaptive ) and mine are fine with just shy of 60k on the clock
 
To play the devil's advocate, unless they put it down to pot hole damage of course...
