looking at lowering springs the drop quoted is based on standard, how much lower are sport springs over standard, 20mm?

The S4 uses different spring rates to any other A4, because of the big heavy V8, so the lowering springs will be specific for the S4. So whatever the manufacture quotes the lowering is that's how much it will drop it. I've just lowered my S4 Avant with H&R springs and they lower it by 35mm. As far as I'm aware H&R are the only company to do a spring kit for the B6 S4, your only other option is coil overs.

The reason I ask is because I've seen the below mentioned on most springs. It seems to indicate that if the manufacturer is quoting a 30mm drop, but your car is already lower than standard because it has sports suspension eg 20mm, then it would only be 10mm lower after fitting these springs.

"On vehicles where sports suspension is a factory option (e.g. Audi S-Line, BMW M-Sport, Mercedes AMG-Line) the lowering amount shown is for vehicles without. If your vehicle has optional sports suspension you will have to deduct the amount the vehicle is already lowered by. This can be up to 30mm."

Yes that's correct for the normal A4's as they were available with standard suspension or sports suspension (20mm lower.) So if a spring kit says they drop a car 30mm and your cars has sports suspension then it will only drop it 10mm, but like I say the S4's springs are unique to the S4 so if they say they drop the car 30mm they will drop it 30mm as there is only one type of suspension fitted to the S4.
What springs have you been looking at?

i did mine on h+r springs and it made a big difference
handling improved while ride wasn't too adversely effected
just before i sold it the new owner wanted the standard ride height springs putting back on
so i did this for him
think the old h+r ones are still in the hut feeling sorry for themselves
