S3 GTX2860R gen II build

Engine is on car and bolted on. Next is putting hoses and wires to place. Had some difficulties with new DP and oil lines.
Should I deleted N249 while on process? Is there any loss to get rid of it?

Most people remove the n249 on big turbo systems, it's used for safety in an accident but additionally holds the turbo on boost between 1st and 2nd. I removed mine from my TT last week purely to make getting to the coils and plugs much easier. I'm not sure i believe it makes the car faster to respond to gear changes.

Thank you. It looks like metal but it is quite light so I started to wonder if its some aluminium mix.
2 pics of yesterday.

Between intake and bonnet there is approx 1mm room lol! Damn I was scared first that it would not fit!
Also car is VERY low! I didnt realise it until now when we put in on floor first time in months. Oil pan hangs very low so it might be problem.
Car does have adjustable chassis but quick look confirmed that shocks are rusted as hell.

The engine will tilt back on its mounts under load, take that into consideration for bonnet clearance

Yep Im aware of that. Im going to make subtle dents to bonnet to make sure it fits.
I filled my engine mounts with SHORE 65 polyrubber and they are tight now. They dont move at all with my forces.
I used even them to get up on floor when engine was off and they didnt really budge and Im heavy fellow :D

I have that same manifold(for sale btw), and I was thinking on running a phenolic spacer to reduce heat-exchange between the head and intake manifold,. And at the same time was planning on having that spacer made with a few mm difference between top and bottom so the manifold would tilt slightly. Haven't done it (yet) so unsure wether or not it would fit without any issues. But that might be something you could consider as well!

Fitting a phenolic would make the manifold sit a little higher... not much use if space is limited as it is

<tuffty/>

If you tilt it downwards, it would make contact with alternator.
I dont really see idea of making any spacer for reduce heat-exchange unless its drastically big between head-intake.

But do those who ask: Yes it fits! but its very close to hood/bonnet so slight mod might be necessary.

Something like this

Challenges, challenges... Trying to fit 3" tube from turbo inlet to MAF but the goddamn vacuum brake booster(big ufo looking) is on the way.
So little room to get the pipes to fit and if engine moves, the pipe makes contact with brake vacuum booster.. argh!

One solution would be to use smaller pipe.
You guys have it "easier" cus your brake booster is on other side.

been there... had that.... 13 years ago.. (how time flies) - same sh1t over a decade on..still occurs.
Yep! But I am happy that with so little modification I can get it to fit. Just one dent to make on hood :D

yeah you can leave the hard plastic map sensor pipe and even the drop rubber pipe on the charge pipe if you like.

Sorry forgot to say I found the guide. I found Green filter 80mm diamater and 130mm total lenght cone filter. Only problem is that I cannot find how lot does it flow. Would not want it to be restricting the turbo.
I am aiming 380-400hp from engine.

Didnt find jetex from badger5 site and doesnt matter anyways cus I live in finland :)

Ah I see its JR filter. They are out of stock for 80mm.
Jetex filter is 170mm long and green I found is only 130mm, just wondering if its enough.

I ordered the green filter. Got it cheap too, only 26€
Here is some progress pics

Does anyone have pics how the coolant hoses should go? Im on Phone so makes hard to find them.
iPhone gets the same Google search as a pc. No difference apart from size of screen and person using the search bar. Sorry but making up an excuse for a quick search blaming it on an iPhone is just silly.

Well sorryy for asking. Where my car is, coverage for phone reception is poor, usually between Edge and 3G so its ****** to search for stuff on phone(I dont have iphone btw, dont know where you got that) and its hellishly slow too. I forgot my laptop and that is why I asked for help. Just typing that message took very long time but I guess its all just excuses to you.
I dont live in England where coverage must be great everywhere.

Lucky I had one kind soul who did search for me and found pictures to help me enough.

Anyways got all hoses connected+air condition pipes. Next is filling the system with coolant/water and bleeding clutch.
Tomorrow going to install FMIC 600x300x76 MAP pipe was broken so I have to order new one.

If anyone wants to fabricate better flowing pipe. I most likely will order new original map pipe since its so tight to fit 60mm pipe and battery holder.

Forge motorsport sell it as a pipe section.
It will be difficult getting 60mm+ alloy pipe past the battery holder without modification to it, but it’s worth it in my opinion

I ordered original one with sensor it cost me 30€ so not bad.

Here is pics of fitting FMIC and I am pretty certain this is my last car I build myself unless I win lottery and can buy shitton of stuff and tools!
Now all is "improvise of if you cant, wait a week to get missing parts"

FMIC is 600x300x76 so goodbye fog lamps.. I really would want to fit covers so that FMIC doesnt show up so good.
Im still pretty certain I have to get a tune map for 209Hp for inspector before I can drive the car. Its just idiotic to get one because Im wishing to tune the car and get that 209hp paper all in one go but I dont think it will happen since I have to break-in engine and that would mean to drive 500-600miles in few days.

I came across this 3" cobra head bend and wondered if I could use them with cooler to retain fog lamps and fog lamp covers. Im trying to make stealth approach as I mentioned earlier.
All thought I would have to use bit of straight 3" pipe and alloy pipe to connect so the cobra head might still go too close to fogs.

Have to measure some more today if I have strenght. 2 days without proper sleep is getting to me.

Went to install pipes to FMIC and took a look at the bumber. All the fog lamp holder broken plus I had forgotten that last owner had replaced the OEM grilles with mesh.
I installed the piping in 20minutes, tried on bumber and noticed I had setup the IC too low. I have to raise it a bit and then bumber fits just right :)
Couldnt take pic with bumber on cus I was alone holding the bumber in place.

Also I didnt have any rope so I had to tape the IC to crashbar :D

EDIT: I studied today that your MOT is basically same as our yearly inspection.
