Wow great pictures and nice time. On a side note, there were people in your other thread about the REVO remap asking what BHP you got to, so think you should update them if you can.

The photographer for Blacketts does some arty shots every now and then. This is one of my favourites sitting on the line.

I did see you go down. My mate was running in the red s3 pfl. Mine was in the field next to camp. I had already had to much to drink before deciding i wanted to go down

Fairly close to the new RS3 and RS5 which did around 12 seconds in the carwow video.

In the world of strip times 0.64 will feel like a lot. Let's be sensible, a car with more power will arrive sooner than one with less.

Nope. Launches are just as important. An S3 or anything similar with AWD, dual-clutch gearbox and launch control will equal or beat plenty of cars with more power.

Times also aren't everything. A faster launching car may post a quicker time than a more powerful, but slower launching one yet the latter will have a higher terminal velocity as, by the end of the quarter, it's reeling in the former.

The chap with the 300bhp Cupra R I went up against at Santa Pod found that out, I was in the R32 with 50bhp less than him.

I really don't see the point in 300+ bhp in a front-wheel drive car. Sure it's ok once you're rolling but hard acceleration from low speeds, especially on a slippery surface, just results in loads of wheelspin.

It looks like the new civic type R has it under control though.

Believe it when I see it. They can try all manner of trick suspension and front diffs but the fact remains that there just isn't enough grip for that much power, especially in less than ideal conditions.

I was at Santa Pod on Saturday and the number of high-power FWD cars which seriously struggled to get off the line was hilarious, and that's about as perfect a surface as you'll get.

I agree from a standing start, FWD cars will always struggle to beat AWD or RWD vehicles. But, these modern hot hatches with 300-odd-bhp and their clever diffs and suspension are bonkers quick around a bend. Honestly, they literally run rings around cars like the S3/R/M140i... those diffs just hook up and yank you out of a bend like an elastic band. Granted, in wet conditions, they struggle against AWD cars, but they'll still show RWD cars a clean pair of heels!

Had a go in a Megane RS275 before I got the S3, that was a complete weapon!

I haven't seen it myself, just what I heard from Chris Harris in this video. He compares it to the 2001 type r. https://www.topgear.com/videos/chris-harris-drives/chris-harris-drives-2017-honda-civic-type-r

Well at Rockingham I launched (a lot) faster than the r8 V10 next to me however it reeled me in and overtook in the space of 200m. More power you see ;)
