    Hi all.

I have S3 8l AMK engine full stock only S2000 filter.

From all the cars i drove this one have the worst throttle response i ever seen.

On my old A3 1.8t AGU the TB response was just amazing. Let's say i'm on 2nd gear at 2k rpm. When I barely touch the accelerator there was instant acceleration and if floored a lot of wheel spin. On S3 even on 3k rpm i hit the accelerator and everything is happening sooo slow (i don't expect wheel spin ofc). I don't think this car have any turbo lag at all.

There are no vac/boost leaks. I have boost gauge and it's reading ~0.9 bar which is normal for stock 209 S3.

Also i heard that DBW is worse than a TB with cable like AGU, but i didn't thought there is such diference.

I cleaered TB, i made TBA with vag com, but still not what i was expecting from "sport"car.

The pedal input on a DBW throttle does not match the TB butterfly valve angle. The ECU takes your pedal input as a 'request to go faster', and manipulates the engine the try and cater to your request as efficiently as possible...

The AGU cable-throttle had an instant response, because as soon as your floored the pedal, the valve was wide open. The "dumb" ECU then had to scramble to deliver the fuel needed for the increased amount of air in the intake...

At least, thats how I understand it all works... there's obviously a lot more in the details, and if I got it wrong someone will be sure to come along and correct me shortly ;)

Also should mention the K03 is a spool monster compared to a K04...

DBW maps actually limit TB flap position up to 2-3k (can't remember the exact rpm off hand)... response profile maps as Bill mentioned above also play a factor...

All to do with being a smooth progressive drive as standard

Std S3 map is uninspiring to say the least and as so eloquently described by Erik there is no direct correlation between throttle pedal and throttle position... the ECU decides how much TB position it needs to use to get the desired effect... albeit its idea of desired and yours seem to be quite different but that nothing a map wouldn't sort...

If you look at logs in a mapped car quite often there is no difference between 50% throttle pedal and 100% throttle pedal - they are both 100% load

Well yeah... load is finite in that context... 100% load request is 100% load request no matter how you look at it
