What should be the rev counter position when the car is started? May sound daft but does everyone's sit at zero?

I've just noticed today than mine is sitting at just under the 1000 marker.

Possible causes? Only had the car a week.

Mine idles at 777rpm going by VCDS. 1.9 TDI.

When stone cold it will idle at around 1000rpm until warmed up when it drops to a solid 777.

During a DPF regen it may idle slightly higher than 1000rpm. If you stated the engine you have?

Cheers Chris. Mine is sitting around the 800 mark at idle. Also a 1.9 TDI.

800 - 1000 rpm depending on engine/ambient temps. Might sit a zero if you have petrol and start/stop technology but not sure they even had that option on 8P.

820 (-/+ 10) in normal conditions on 2.0TDI.

As above, can vary with ambient temps and load on the alternator.
