The CD changer in my glovebox decided it was time to die.
I have managed to obtain a replacement which when plugged in seemed to work. It loaded disks and ejected disks - so far so good.
Unfortunately when trying to play the disk the problem became apparent. The disk starts to play, the time on the display moves normally but - 1st second music, 2nd second silence, 3rd second music 4th second silence . . and so on.
Can anyone tell me, is this because the player needs coding to the vehicle or is the replacement player also faulty?

Hi hope this helps , as far as am aware you will have to get component protection removed. Theres a link for same problem.

Thanks for the link.
Will update again once I have visited the guy with gear to remove the protection.

Final update:
Specialist computer app needed and access to German database so ----
After a long time trying to get my local Audi dealer interested in anything that did not involve selling me a bright shiny new Audi, they finally said that they could do it, but it might not work as the CD changer came from a different model (A8) and had a different mod state, but would be willing to try and would charge £60 + vat regardless. They also could not give me a date which would still have allowed me to return to vendor within 30 days.
So I gave up!
Returned to vendor and bought a fiber optic loop adapter to keep the system working - no longer have CD changer, but do have DAB, LW, MW and VHF radio, so still some music if I feel like it.
