Had an issue with my Air Bag light not extinguishing, local garage read the fault code 00588 air bag igniter/squib ring. Replaced it this morning with a second-hand one and reset the fault code using VCDS Lite, ESP light is now on and giving:

00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85)
005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation
Went into the ABS block and getting 0.00 with the wheels straight but I can't recode with VCDS Lite. Have tried the driving a bit then lock-to-lock but the light is still (haven't tried to clear the code yet though) is there anything else I can try or is it a case of finding someone with VCDS full version and offering beer?
