So it was mine and the wife's anniversary today and she managed to organise an absolute treat. We turned up at our Audi dealer this morning at 10:00 (apperantly to sign some paperwork) and as a complete suprise to me they give me the keys to this weapon and said "bring it back at 3".
I am absolutely exhausted due to 5 solid hours of adrenaline pumping round my system, we drove it with absolute respect and looked after it however once or twice we did give it a little bit of stick
The power delivery and noise from the 540bhp V10 is out of this world albeit the RS3 has a lot more low down grunt around town however once the v10 gets past 6K it really comes alive and revs like a motorbike engine all the way up to around 9000rpm. The gearbox must be telepathic or have 7 clutches, pulling a paddle is like pulling the trigger on a rifle, it's a world away from the normal s-tronic boxes.
Initially the brakes didn't seem too sharp but I think they are a lot less assisted than a typical road car and once I got used to pushing a bit harder they had some serious stopping power and a lot of feel through the pedal.
In terms of handling it's the only car I have ever felt real lateral g-force, the car almost feels rear driven but also feels very forgiving with no drama under acceleration thanks to the quattro system. The turn in is instant, no slack in the steering wheel at all.
Although it is a serious piece of kit, it's an absolute pussy cat round town and is no more challenging than driving a TT although we did attract a lot of attention!
Drive select was had everything set to dynamic with the exception of the suspension being set to auto (dynamic doesn't work on our roads).
Unfortunately despite my protest Audi don't take houses as part exchange, so it looks like a bank job is on the cards So to summerize I've had an epic day and my Mrs is defiantly a keeper!
