Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some information on the P175D transmission fault code I am receiving. I had the clutch replaced in my A3 (2009 SE Tecknik, 2009) in December and I am now receiving this fault code. My car has covered just over 95,000 miles and I don’t believe the gearbox oil and filter have been changed since new (7 speed so the previous owner was told it didn't need doing). Would this help? I am also looking to get the software updated to see if this helps the overall jerkiness of the car, which I know is a common theme of this transmissions but I don't think it should be as bad as it is on mine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am struggling to find a proper answer as to what could be the primary cause of this fault code.

Thanks!

S-tronic or dsg? I’ve never known a auto be jerky, but a dsg can. They definitely need oil changes.

The reason I ask is on my search for P175D, the first results all relate to the dsg box.

If it is a dsg then definitely get the oil and filter changed. The jerkiness could be the metatronics on its was out and needing a refurb.

Yeah it's S Tronic, so still a DSG. It's weird because Audi service centres say the gearbox is sealed for life and therefore they don't offer any oil change services.

Nope. You can change the oil and filters. Highly recommended. That might reduce the jerkiness but is get it to a specialist to have the metatronics looked at.

As you had the clutch done a dsg reset might also help. It should have had one done. I would do this plus oil change first, if no change then get the metatronics done. If they fail it can be very costly.

Depending on where you are in London, @DJAlix might be able to help with the reset.

Thank you for your replies. I will look into getting the oil and filter changed and speak to the person you linked about the reset. Thanks again!

If you have, or have access to Vcds it isn’t too hard.

Out of interest how much did it cost you to get the twin clutch plates changed?

Nope, no access to Vcds unfortunately. The clutch cost me £900 including labour. Not bad considering most in and around London charge £1000 +

Hello, sorry just wanted to follow up on the outcome on this. Did you manage to sort out the issue? I have a similar issue of My Mk6 Golf DSG Auto. Apologies i know this is Audi forum, couldn't see similar post on there. The Golf Had EML on with Code P175d, slight occasional jerks when car moved from stationary, example from traffic lights on take off but very occasionally., other than that it drives perfect. Its really stressed me out ad Dealership says mech needs replacing, however it doesnt have mech problem symptoms. Please advise. Thanks
