My new (to me!) B6 S4

Yup, so nice to have the main issues sorted.

Now to work on a couple of the niggly little things and also some improvements!

So not much going on over the last few weeks, but finally sorted a few niggles.

Tonight sorted the headlight auto-leveling, details can be found here, turned out to be an easy fix :) http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/headlight-range-issues-s4.270207/

Also managed to learn the steering angle sensor so hopefully no more ESP light after 20 mins of driving.

Got one of the door blades off, rubbed down, couple of coats of primer and a couple of coats of Dolphin grey, will lacquer it tomorrow and see how it looks. They looked naff in dark grey.

The only codes remaining on my latest scan are the engine mounts and radio:

i know all about the steering angle sensor. when my mate was trying to sort out the brake warning symbol on the dash, the steering angle sensor had failed or so we thought. as it wouldnt read the angle. so replaced that one with a known good one. still no joy, it turns out that my audi has had another engine ecu. and we was trying to code it with the code for my chassis but still no joy. so he read my engine ecu only to find it was a difrent chasis no, when we coded this to the car all fell into place. glad you hgave sorted yours, so you can know enjoy her.

What do I love about this picture? And it's not the 190 miles to 3/4 of a tank!?!

Also, removed one of the rear door blades to repaint in Dolphin Grey.

Two coats of primer, three of base coat, and two lacquer.

Not a huge change, but nice and subtle compared to the faded grey before. Here's a side by side.

I've just decided to colour code the S4 blades I've bought after seeing a comparison on a silver B6. Once painted they look much more aggressive than the standard grey colour.

Not a huge amount to report on this recently. Just some bodywork TLC.

Have completed the body colouring of the door blades, looks much better now.

Also, had a smart repair on the front bumper, previous owner obviously scraped it on something but repaired it with silver rather than grey.

Not a 100% job, you can see a bit of orange peel but so much better than before.

He also gave the whole car a quick machine polish, has brought out a better shine, not a huge amount of correction but only worked for 3-4 hours on it. A couple of spots look a lot better.

Still haven't fitted the cruise control kit I have, will get to that.

Hi Adam,

Once the paint has settled in a bit you could always use some rubbing compound/ t cut to flatten it back a bit. will take a bit of the orange peel effect out.
Did you get the Motor mount fault sorted? I had a similar issue and replaced both engine mounts with OE parts... they were £400. I fitted them myself with new mount bolts and starter motor.

Cheers

Al
