Hi all,
I went out a little bit earlier this evening to try and capture the boost produced by the turbo, as I suspected that there is some sort of boost leak. Plugged my thing into the OBD2 port and found out that I'm getting 0.8 to 1.0 Bar max when accelerating. I was of the impression that I should be getting 1.2 Bar from a stage 1, however whether the OBD2 apps give off a good reading is another question I would guess...
I replaced the Diverter Valve a few weeks ago, which I instantly noticed as it turns out my car was running at 180hp for quite some time, and then it shot up to circa 240hp when I replaced it. Over the last week or two it now feels like a stock 2.0TFSI (and the turbo boost graph from the OBD2 shows it).
So my first question is what should I do about this potential boost leak (and does the boost leak/turbo problem have anything to do with my next question)?
While I was testing for boost leaks of some sort earlier this evening, the engine all of a sudden under heavy(ish) acceleration makes a strange rough noise when the turbo kicks in, I feel like the noise comes from the engine area.
This is a video that I found on Youtube of a Mk5 Golf sounding like it has similar issues to myself:
And this is a recording of my car with the noise. I have no clue if its good or bad, the only way I can describe it is rough under acceleration and comes and goes throughout the rev range, but is only there when turbo comes in. Also, while you're all here, is my's turbo whistling too much and will I be able to drive it to work tomorrow with what I suspect is a problem with the exhaust manifold?
Car is Audi A3 8p 2.0TFSI, 100k miles and new Rev D DV.
Cheers,
Harry
